Chapter Forty-Eight
Nikolas was horrified seeing the dangerous-looking men rushing after Brooklyn. He parked his car at the side and climbed out to save her. He rushed to cross the road but a car skidded to a halt right in front of him, blocking his view. He could see someone climb out of the car and then all of a sudden Brooklyn’s blood-curdling scream pierced the air. Nikolas’s heart stopped beating and he ran around the car towards Brooklyn on the other side as fast as his legs could carry him.
Several other pedestrians stopped in their tracks, some called the police while others stood watching the drama happening before their eyes. Nikolas skidded to a stop near a petrified Brooklyn who was staring at the man standing in front of her with a gun in his hand.
