01: SIGN THE PAPERS!

Today was my wedding anniversary to my husband. I should be happy right? I should be dressed in the most beautiful outfit and looking all glammed up for my husband. Ridiculous!

I was here, pacing to and fro, waiting for him to be back so that I could share the good news with him. A good news that was likely to change the course of our lives. A smile curled at the end of my lips at the thought alone.

I licked my lips, afraid that if I bit them too much, they would bleed from my nervousness and the excitement bubbling in my stomach. At the thought alone, I gripped my stomach as I let out a deep breath.

I was - I looked up as I heard the door creaked open. I tapped my feet impatiently as Brian appeared before me. Brian Knox, the love of my life and my husband. We have been married for two years and I would not lie, it has not always been roses. There were days we never spoke to each other. Days when he would ignore me like I did not exist and there was probably no day he had acknowledged me except for that once when he had surprisingly pulled me closer to him and we had séx. He was so articulate and gentle. A blush crept into my cheeks as the memory displayed before my eyes.

"Brian, you are back," I said, taking further steps toward him. "I have good news for you!"

I stopped when I noticed he was neither smiling nor even acknowledging me. The smile on my face dropped as I watched a figure step behind him and stand beside him.

My hands dropped to my side as the lady who I recognized vividly appeared before me. She... Angela White... I thought she had traveled?! That was what Brian told me years ago when we were about to marry!

"Brian, what's this?" I asked him, making sure my voice did not break.

That was enough to have him step further and walk past me. I glared at Angela when she offered me a smile that did not reach her eyes.

I turned around, Brian was opening his briefcase and he pulled out a file. He extended it out to me. "Sign the papers and leave!" He sneered, making me flinch in shock.

"Brian?" I called his name with all the pain I was feeling at the moment. "Today is our anniversary and you brought your ex-girlfriend home!" I accused him.

"Jessica, just sign the papers and leave. You and I both know we were in an arranged marriage. I have gotten what I needed from the marriage. Now sign the papers and leave!" He hissed, loosening his tie. Angela proceeded to help him with it and he let her.

He was right. That was true. We were arranged to be together. I could remember vividly how stiff he was that day and how he grumbled the vows he said to me. All he needed from the marriage was that he would have the right to the Knox Corporation and I... I will serve as his wife duly for two years. I was thinking that within these two years, I would have managed to let him know and love me. Except I was deceiving myself and now... This was the result.

"Brian, you cannot do this. I am carrying-"

"I do not care, Jessica. Leave now. I am now the CEO of Knox Corporation. You can leave. Don't let me use force!" He spat, glaring at me. The muscle in his had ticking as we both shared an eye lock.

My eyelids twitched and my lips trembled as I tried not to shed tears. "Brian, you know how much I love you. I can't leave you!" I cried, not caring if Angela was there at all.

"But I don't love you. I never did. You were the reason Angela and I were separated in the first place and you are the reason we are back again, Jessica. How dare you?!" He yelled, towering over me. My jaw hardened at what he was implying. I cast a glare at her. She told him. The bitch fucking told him.

"I did everything a woman in love would do. I only confronted her and what is wrong with that, Brian? Answer me?" I asked.

He scoffed and let out a ridiculous laughter. "Your father and you planned everything to make sure we were married. You seduced my father and made him send Angela out of the city. Do you know how hard she was barely living? How she could not feed herself. You-" He pointed to me. "You did it. You caused it. You went as far as going to a place I got for her and you had the guts to confront her like you were something to me! Jessica, you are nothing to me. You were never and will never be! Sometimes I don't recognize you anymore."

"Thankfully I became the CEO, or else, who knows how she would have been faring now." He said, staring at her affectionately. Anger resonated within at the way he was looking at her. He has never looked at me that way, with those eyes. Never.

He was the one who helped her back into the city. His father had made sure she was unable to live in the city but now that Brian has gotten his right to the Knox Corporation, he could undo the things his father did. That broke my heart so much. I had thought I now had Brian to myself until I saw her at the boutique. I had not even known that Brian had seen her and did not even know she was using the Knox Corp. Card to get things for herself. Brian's father had only given me when I got married to his son and I remembered how Brian had asked me to return it to him, and snatched it from me since then I never sighted the card until that day, I saw it with her. Raw anger burned through me and I had some men find out where she was living.

"You know what?" He clenched his jaws and pointed to the papers. "Sign them within two days and leave! I don't want to see your face. Ever. Never again!" He said, reaching out for Angela's hand.

"Where are you going?" I asked him.

He eyed me hard. "Anywhere. For as long as I do not get to see your face!" He hissed and walked out, dragging Angela who winked at me out of the house.

I slipped to the floor as tears began to roll out of my eyes. How? How can this be possible? I thought today was the day he would finally start showing me how he loved him. I thought we were finally going to become that couple I dreamt we would be. Perfect and unbreakable.

Hard sobs broke out from my mouth and I could not help it. He said he did not recognize me again. I never changed. I was only in love with him and wanted to have a future with him there except he would also be absent from their own too.

Our kids. His kids. My kids.

I was pregnant for Brian Knox and now he has divorced me before his mistress!
