29. A surprise Party

As I knelt before Damon, begging him to let Ian have his birthday party, I felt my anger towards him grow. His refusal to listen to my pleas and consider what was best for Ian was unbearable.

Damon looked at me with a smug expression, his eyes cold and unyielding. "You should be focusing on getting Ian back to school, instead of planning a frivolous party," he said dismissively. "That's what's important right now."I felt my heart tighten and I glared at Damon, unable to believe his callousness. How could he be so insensitive to Ian's needs, to the pain and grief he was going through?

Tears streamed down my face as I stood up and stormed out of Damon's room, my fists clenched in anger. I knew I had to find a way to make Ian's birthday special, no matter what Damon said or did. I would not let him take this away from my child.
