Vespa
Stunned, I watched the guys step down one after the other, and like ants to sugar, lots of girls were swooning over them.
My eyes photographed them and the best adjective to describe them was 'perfect.'
Well-muscled, they carried themselves with a commanding air of self-confidence very close to arrogance and stepped down one after the other, causing a frenzy among the girls.
My mouth thinned with envy. I dabbed sweat off my forehead, hating myself for getting provoked by these abnormal freaks.
Donovan's public embarrassment had taught me enough lessons for a lifetime. No more werewolves.
"Vespa, these guys are freaking hot," Ria's eyes widened with excitement. "I almost fainted in the airport when I saw them trying to help you. You should thank them specially."
"Sure. Will washing their feet and patting them dry with my hair be enough?"
Ria laughed. I pitied the stupid girls who'd fallen right into their trap.
"Look at that one in a white shirt rocking a blond man-bun," she turned my head in his direction. He was so good-looking that it hurt my eyes.
He seemed more relaxed than his brothers, wearing a mischievous smile while his left hand wrapped around a tiny girl's hip.
"Typical fuck boy," I yawned, acting bored.
"Fair enough. Look at the other one behind him."
Ria pointed to his dark-haired brother on a black, leather jacket, chinos pants, and sneakers. He commanded an aura of authority and had deep lines of displeasure ruining his handsome face.
"Looks like he'd beat the shit out of a chick every chance he got. Domestic violence. Red flag."
"That's harsh," Ria laughed, enjoying herself and leaning against me. "He's giving hot, powerful,all-girls-must-bow-at-my-feet vibes. Gosh, can you imagine his lips teasing your nipple, possessing you, and sliding his finger across…"
"Are you ovulating?" I gave her a side glance. "Because I remember you loud and clear, criticizing me for sleeping with a werewolf."
"There are exceptions. Donovan isn't as handsome as these stinking hot and sexy male specimens."
"Okay, I've heard enough. Hand out the forms and badges to the new students."
"You're no fun," she blew me a raspberry. "Let's analyze the third one."
"No," I said firmly, blocking my ears.
We waited patiently for the girls flocking around the boys to have some semblance of dignity and stop behaving like sex-starved dogs.
Frustrated, I banged the table. "Ladies, move aside and let the other students through. This is not a strip club."
The triplet brothers' gazes locked onto mine, so intense that I felt a strange rumble in my stomach.
I looked away immediately like a child caught stealing, pretending to be nonchalant. But one of them, the one Ria and I didn't analyze, walked over and smiled, revealing a deep dimple on his left cheek and amusement in his steel-gray eyes
Slightly shorter than his brothers, he rocked long and messy light brown hair. I couldn't even look this one in the eye. He was beautiful.
"Hey, it's you," he smiled like he was talking to an old friend. "I'm glad you're okay and…"
"Name?" I cut him off abruptly, ignoring the silly grin he flashed. He hesitated for a second, caught off guard by the harshness of my tone.
"Zeke."
"I suppose you have a surname."
"Wolfe."
"How predictable," I muttered, typing his name into the computer. "Here's your room card and badge." I handed him a clipboard and a plastic card with his name and photo on it.
But when our hands brushed, his eyes raked slowly and seductively over mine, lazily appraising me. My heartbeat banged against my ribcage.
"Shouldn't you be thankful that my brothers and I helped you at the airport? Why so harsh?"
"I don't know what you're talking about," I lied.
His brothers approached him, almost pushing him aside. All three had one thing in common, the same shade of steel-gray eyes.
The one with the permanent frown stared at me, from my face to my boobs and back to my face.
Swallowing, I looked away.
"Meet my brothers, Kai and Ziah," Zeke continued. I cleared my throat and mustered enough courage to look him in the eye.
"There are free registration desks. Kindly spread out and meet the other officials."
"Why can't you take care of things yourself? It's just paperwork," the one with the permanent frown sneered. I hated his guts instantly.
Grabbing a pen and a stack of papers, the brother rocking a man bun, who, might I add, looked like a chronic flirt, broke into a hot smile.
"I suppose you're over your dizzy spell?"
Successfully ignoring them, I attended to Zeke because he was here before his brothers. But when the other two leaned closer, they trapped me in an overwhelming sensation.
I couldn't explain it, but my body gave a surprised jerk, vibrating and awash with overlapping ripples. God forbid that I lust after a werewolf again.
"Not even a thank you for helping you the other day?" Ziah, the flirty one, teased and the grumpy one lowered his head, meeting me eye to eye. His gaze was so intense, and those full lips…
Ria was right. He had lips to die for.
"Don't scare her, Kai," Zeke said without taking his gaze off me. "You and Ziah are acting like you want to get into your panties and shove…"
"Shut up," angry Kai snapped.
"Then stop scaring the girl."
In seconds, an argument arose among the brothers. My mouth gaped open in shock. Ria exchanged glances with me, mouthing "What's going on?"
Suspecting that the trio was up to no good, I did what was best for me. Slipped the hell away. Unfortunately, Kai, the grumpy one, who seemed to have the sharpest tongue, caught up with me.
"Respectfully fuck off."
He smirked, raising an eyebrow. "Have lunch with me."
His statement sounded like an order, pissing me off. I halted and turned around with the nastiest frown I could manage.
"Why would I want to have lunch with a half-man?"
He moved closer and closer, making me take several steps back.
"I'm more man than every male in your life can ever be. I repeat, have lunch with me."
His brothers stood several steps away, their frowning gazes locked on us.
"You'll have to drag me by my hair. I advise you and your brothers to stay away from me. I've had enough drama to last me a lifetime."
"We'll see about that," he smirked again, eyeing me from head to foot and walking away, making sure that none of his brothers cornered him.
He acted so superior to them, reminding me of my cousin, Sibyl, a lethal demon who made my childhood a living hell.
Shaking my thoughts away, I headed straight to my dorm and collapsed on my bed. I hadn't even gotten over Donovan yet and didn't need any more complications.
Ria rushed in and perched on my reading chair beside my bed while holding her hair up with a pin
."For someone trying to keep her head though, you sure got a truckload of attention from three hot triplet brothers. You should hire a bodyguard just in case"
"And why is that?"I asked in a dry tone.
"Girls are gonna hate you so bad."
"Whatever," I grumbled, getting up. "I'm headed to the radio station for my slot."
"Maybe share some tips for attracting hot, sexy dudes because you seem to have the knack for it."
I flipped her the middle finger and headed out.
All night, I couldn't sleep because my thoughts were filled with Donovan and the disgrace he brought upon me. If only I could cry and vent out my pain. Crying used to help ease my pain, but I swore to never shed a tear, no matter the circumstance.
After a quick shower the next morning, I dressed in a simple green tunic that matched my eyes and cowboy boots. While waiting for the Multimedia Journalism Ethics lecture in class, my eyes almost popped out of their socket.
Donovan's pregnant girlfriend walked in, with her arm wrapped around one of the triplets; the flirty one, Ziah if I'm not mistaken.
When they approached my row, I ducked my head, pretending to be very interested in my newly-drafted chapter for my final thesis.
But their sharp werewolf vision spotted me and stopped moving. Donovan's girl looked smug and rubbed her stomach. She seemed to have a covenant with the colors yellow and green.
Ziah's gaze met mine and held. I looked away immediately, hating that I was reacting to him. They occupied the seats behind me and Ziah tried to get my attention, but I ignored him.
After the boring lecture, he tried to talk to me."Vespa. Lovely name."
The way he tasted my name with his tongue made me shiver with pleasure. But I kept on with the pretense and greeted him with silence. Just because he was handsome didn't mean he could win my heart.
"Sorry about yesterday," he continued. "My brothers might have come off too strong on you. That's how they are. Meet my cousin Nebula."
My mouth widened in shock. Donovan's new girlfriend was the triplets' cousin? This sudden attention must be planned work.
"Close your mouth before flies land on it," the silly girl smirked. "You're the hoodlum who thought you had a shot with my man. Unfortunately, he picked me and it will remain that way."
Ziah rebuked his cousin, warning her to stop acting stupid. I packed my stuff to leave. He rushed after me but I ignored him and his fucking cologne messing with my head.
"What attracted you to that fool?"
The question brought me to a halt. He tried to touch my arm but I swatted his hand away. "Stay away from me. You and your brothers should get a hobby. I'm not your plaything."
A sincere apologetic look appeared on his face. "I have no hand in whatever that weakling Donovan did to you. But I'm sorry and I want us to be friends."
"Keep your apology to yourself. I have a handful of friends."
"Come on," he grinned, batting his lashes, which were ridiculously long for a guy's. "I mean no harm at all. How about us going for lunch to grab a bite? I don't tak
e no for an answer."
"Do I look hungry to you?"
He kept pestering me and even promised to tell me what went down between Donovan and his cousin. Because I needed closure, I agreed.
Vespa "Ten minutes max and I'll bounce," I warned him. "Copy that," he mock-saluted. His smile broadened and I headed out, creating a distance between us. From nowhere, his brothers appeared, blocking us on the road. "What's going on?" I asked Ziah. "Where are you taking her?" The grumpy one (Kai) spat with the same arrogance as the previous day. Was he always this insolent? "None of your business," Ziah started to say, but his brother raised a brow."We're just going for lunch. What's wrong with that?" "Everything," Zeke, the beautiful one said with a much calmer tone, tossing his hair to the side. "You can't go out with her." "Why not?" "Because I said so." He tried to move closer, but man-bun stood in front of me. I stood there, wondering what these three rascals were up to. "You know what?" I raised my hands, tired of the back and forth. "I'm going to turn around and head in the opposite direction. Please do not follow me, else…" "Fuck off, Kai!" Ziah, my classmate, yel
KaiAnger was an understatement of how I felt after Vespa walked away. I was inflamed that my one chance of being with my mate was ruined by my overbearing brothers and my spoiled cousin."Get the hell out of here, Nebula." I snapped at the silly girl. "You're so infuriating."Nebula rolled her eyes, looking smug. "C'mon, Kia, I'm still your favorite cousin and you shouldn't dump me over a worthless human."Then she sat on the same seat Vespa had vacated, placing her manicured nails over my clenched fist and trying to pry it open.I pulled away, glaring at her.Hissing, she leaned back, drinking some of Ziah's water. "This isn't what you should be focused on. Grandma said keep your eye on the prize. But here you are, acting like simps. I'm most surprised that you're acting pussy-whipped, Kai.""Shut the fuck…""You're the serious one," she continued, ignoring me. "If it were Zeke or fuckboy Ziah, I wouldn't bat an eyelid."She was right. Vespa's presence made my skin prickle pleasur
Vespa Starving, fatigued, and utterly drained from the whole drama, I was relieved to be in the comfort of my room. Without wasting a second, I yanked off my boots, tossed my backpack on the bed, and flopped down on the single couch in the room. Ria, who was sitting at the desk and working on her laptop, looked up, her eyes roaming over me. "Something wrong? You look like a horse pissed on your leg." "Is there some Universe diety I need to bribe to cease these back-to-back calamities?" Ria's face turned serious. She shut her laptop, sprang up, and rushed to my side. "What's wrong?" "You don't want to know," I said, gulping some water. "My unwelcome lap dogs are driving me crazy." She frowned, trying to figure out what I was talking about, but when she understood, she burst into crazy laughter. "What's funny?" I glared at her. "Sorry, sorry. How so?" "Would you believe it if I told you that they continued with their charade, each of them trying to warm up to me but fighting e
Vespa There was a very thin line between love and hate, and this had been my case ever since Donovan dumped me. I thought I'd found 'the one,' when I met Donovan. I thought I loved him and could die without him. Now, all I felt was the need to throw up, cold indifference and the fires of hatred flare up inside me, so much that I felt like banging the door in his face hard and pounding his brain cells into a pudding. After the public humiliation, I was hurt and my heart fell apart, then I transitioned to existing on autopilot. Tonight, my eyes opened to his flaws. I must have been blinded by his dick to not notice that he wasn't even all that good looking. Seeing the pig in a new light showed all his imperfections. His stupid face bronzed by the sun looked like baby poo, his lips were too wide, his hair looked like it was styled by a child, and the veneers in his teeth looked so fake. "Look who you fucked for over twelve months," my inner thoughts mocked me. "You're tasteless."
Zeke My favorite place to while away my time at Brookstone University was the hiking trail. The surreal view was enchanting, thanks to the moon and stars reflecting on the water below and providing illumination that no artificial lights could ever hope to match. Unfortunately, noise pollution disguised as a party disrupted the peace of this place. My lycan enhanced hearing worsened the loud bass from the speakers, making my eardrums ache. No sleep tonight. Holding my acoustic guitar, I fixed my gaze at the constellations. The moon was at its brightest, fueling my body with lunar energy from the Moon Goddess and relaxing my body into a state of calm. I let out a sigh and tipped my head back, connecting to life and appreciating its beauty, while my fingers danced along the guitar strings, producing the familiar notes I hold dearly to my heart. The ones my Mama taught me. Mama's soft face and her long, blond plait akin to a thick snake, filled my head. Her eyes, bright grey and spa
Vespa Snowy purred from the slightly chilly wind. I wrapped my jacket around it as I ascended the hiking path. No words could describe the pain I felt discovering that the man I once loved was a phony all along. Donovan was a first-grade piece of shit for threatening me with my hard-earned work. The hiking trail was never empty. Friends and fuck-buddies strolled in pairs, the latter assaulting innocent ears with moans and grunts. A loud moan like a baby's cry, drifted over the trail, enough for me to lose the remnants of my sanity. I wondered if fucking like rabid dogs outdoors was a new trend. I made a mental note to ask Kaden, the president of the student union. There must be something about students dumping the privacy of their rooms to defile this beautiful little place and turn it into a sex zoo. Other than that, the peace, fresh air, and my spot under an oak tree were a welcoming respite from the crappiness of Donovan's visit. Fuck Donovan. May his socks remain wet f
Vespa "Can the night not get any worse?" I asked my cat, on our way to the room. Snowy purred in response to my fingers stroking his fur. I couldn't deny that some things Zeke said sent shivers down my spine. The mating bond, for a start. If the bond was real, and the three boys could scent me, then there was a big problem. He seemed so serious and I knew there was no way he made his statement up. Other girls would probably feel flattered by the attention of three hot brothers, but I worried about my peace of mind if they all began hanging around me. I was glad I was human and couldn't feel any weird bond. Also, one of them could turn out to be a jerk like their in-law, Donovan. Zeke looked harmless, Ziah was sweet and flirty, and Kai seemed to have a possessive complex. I couldn't tell if they were genuine or just playing with my head. I would've dismissed Zeke's claims if the guys were ugly and not devastatingly handsome like Greek gods. But no, the freaks were too attractiv
VespaA frown nestled on my face as I blocked the front door, preventing Astrid from walking into the room. Astrid realizing that an argument was about to begin, sighed like a long-suffering teacher. "It's six thirty, an astonishingly late time to return after a party that started at nine pm. Why didn't you come back with Ria? Did the organizers pay you to personally tuck the drunks into bed or did you volunteer to be their caregiver?""Calm your perky tits down," she groaned, trying to push past me. "I didn't do anything stupid. I bumped into Latoya, my friend from school. Her sister schools here and we spent the night in her room."I didn't believe her. My sister has always been carefree and irresponsible. I could count on my fingers all the time she's gotten out of trouble. Fortunately for her, her life wasn't built on the foundation of duty and expectations like mine. She shoved her phone in my face, showing me photos of her friend, Latoya, an athletic-looking girl with blonde h
