When people sleep at night, they confidently expect to wake up in the morning; otherwise, they'd find themselves in another world. As for me, I longed for the exact opposite: not to wake up.

Dying was better than feeling this ice spreading through my stomach. My destiny was sealed. Tomorrow I would be married to Seth Darkwood, one of the evilest creatures from the deepest part of hell.

I'd stopped believing in the moon goddess since my tenth birthday and never prayed to her. But tonight, I prayed that she would take my life.

Dying meant escaping all the pain I had to endure in the future. The thought of letting that evil creature touch me and spill his cursed seed into me made me shudder with fear.
