Lumi Blanca - Chapter One

Once upon a time in a land of faery tales and magic, lived many Wolf Packs but these were no ordinary Wolf Packs ……..

‘Wait here’

The four Wolves stopped and paced as the huge black Alpha moved to the edge of the trees, he lay down and watched hidden by the shadows

With a smile and a song

Life is just a bright sunny day

Your cares fade away

And your heart is young

The beautiful young woman

sang as she pegged out the washing and the Wolf studied her closely,

With a smile and a song

All the world seems to waken anew

Rejoicing with you

As the song is sung

Her voice was as beautiful as she was and he was entranced as she twirled and danced in the sunshine,

There's no use in grumbling

When the raindrops come tumbling

Remember, you're the one

Who can fill the world with sunshine

She finished hanging the washing and carried on dancing using the basket as if it was her partner she spun around her blue-black hair tumbling around her like a cape,

When you smile and you sing

Everything is in tune and it's spring

And life flows along

With a smile and a song

The Alpha Wolf licked his lips the little human female was simply stunning and completely isolated this was going to be an easy task for him,

‘Well, well little Princess this is where they have been hiding you is it?’

His chuckle was deep and rumbling,

‘You’ve grown up into a rare beauty that’s for sure’

Desire burned in his groin as his eyes raked over her perfect figure, slender hips and waist, pert firm breasts and that long glorious blue/black hair tumbling down to her hips in soft shining curls.

‘I want you my little Princess and I’m going to have you’                                                                               He growled softly and froze as she looked up her sapphire blue eyes scanning the tree line as if she had heard his thoughts and was looking for him and then he saw her inhale deeply. Frowning the Alpha quickly masked his scent but his fur stood on end,

‘Was it possible?’

Lumi stood still her heart racing all her senses on high alert,

‘There it was again that strange scent, it was so strong and very masculine, pine and musk with a hint of citrus and something she could not define, it was the third time she had noticed it and a shiver went down her spine. She hugged the washing basket to her as if using it as a shield to protect her and then made her way back into the cottage locking the door behind her she leaned against it her heart still pounding wildly she could sense something was about to happen but she did not know what it was.

The Miners came back to their cottage whistling as they made their way through the woods, placing their tools in the shed they used as a changing room with the showers they had rigged up next door and dressed in jeans and t-shirts.

‘I’m ready for some food’

Grumpy said,

The seven men all had nicknames because they lived together and none of them was more than five feet tall. They had found each other working down the mines and as they were all quite short they were teased and bullied. Slowly they had become friends and discovered that as their numbers grew they could look out for each other and the bullying each of them had endured as loners stopped when they were able to gang up on the worst culprits and gave them a pasting. They may have been short but working in the mines gave them strength and the three men they had beaten up required hospital treatment. No one said a word to them but the fights had gained the respect and grudging admiration of the other miners. The seven miners realized there was strength in numbers so they stuck together and forged a deep lasting friendship.

Of course, there had to be seven of them, it had not been intentional, it was just the way things had fallen, they were seven individuals all working for the same company. Fate had thrown them together and of course, as guys do when they work together in the close proximity of a mine very quickly the seven of them were given nicknames that stuck. It wasn’t meant as bullying, in fact, the names suited them and they honestly did not mind them and it amused them that the Disney characters were so like their own characters,

Grumpy, was always moaning especially when he had to get up early in the mornings, his real name was Gary.

Sneezy, well he lived up to his name, the dust in the mines irritated his sinuses making him sneeze repeatedly, his real name was Simon.

Sleepy, also hated early morning starts and had to be dragged out of his bed, he was called Stefan.

Happy, was always singing, usually at the top of his voice, and he told terrible jokes, his real name was Harry.

Bashful was the youngest, only just eighteen and shy, not used to the rough world of the miners, his name was Ben.

Doc was the first aider for all the miners, he was conscientious and always studying, he wanted to become a ‘proper’ Doctor one day, his given name was Darwin. and finally the last of them was the innocent, easygoing

Dopey, he was a gentle, friendly lad with mild learning difficulties, a willing hard worker who just needed a little extra help to be shown what he had to do, his real name was Dave and the others protected him fiercely.

They all knew the rest of the miners meant no harm using their nicknames, they grew so used to it that they even used the names themselves. When they discovered the cottage by chance while out for their weekend hike, it was run down and only had three bedrooms. It came with plenty of land around it and was isolated which is what they wanted, they hated the way people watched them all the time. They were a curiosity, seven grown men no bigger than most ten-year-olds, always together, they caused quite a stir when they went out and it quickly became tiresome. The cottage they had seen was cheap, isolated and had planning permission to be extended so they would all have their own rooms as well as permission to be developed in any way they saw fit.  So the men had pooled their resources, bought the cottage, and set about renovating it, between them, they had all the skills they needed to make it an exclusive, high-end dwelling. It took them a year but the cottage was now a sprawling ranch with ten large bedrooms all with en-suite bathrooms, a huge modern kitchen, a large lounge, a games room, a TV room, and a dining room with a large table they could all sit around comfortably. They had landscaped the area around it and put in a nice big greenhouse and a couple of poly-tunnels because they all enjoyed gardening and growing their own produce. By the time Lumi appeared in their lives, they had been living at Sunshine Cottage, as they had named it, for seven years and were almost self-sufficient.

They came across Lumi while they were out searching for wood for their log burners. The pretty little girl had been tied to a tree near the small lake in the middle of the woods hidden from all but those who knew it was there. She had been left like an unwanted puppy with a large rope around her tiny waist and she had managed to get it tangled around her so she could barely move.
