I was finally released from the hospital, so I drove myself home. My injured ribs hurt like hell, but I tried to ignore it and toughen up. I texted Lily and said, hey.
"I am so mad at you right now," she replied.
"I know, princess, I am sorry," I texted.
"I...I am fine. It..its nothing," I stammered and put my hand on my side. My face betrayed me and reflected pain that contradicted my words.Lily didn't hesitate for one minute. She lifted my shirt, revealing the big ugly black and blue bruise on my ribs. Her face twisted into a frown."Oh my god! You are hurt. Why wouldn't you tell me, you stupid head?" she scolded. "Let's get you to bed," she said and grabbed my hand.
My injuries weren't completely healed, but I could go to school again and resume my normal activities. I had to take it easier since rough movement hurt like a bitch. That means no more manhandling or beating up nerdy kids. Not that I was doing that anymore anyway. Despite my same old miserable home-life, I was much happier, thanks to Lily. My girlfriend. The word girlfriend still seemed foreign to me, but I was slowly getting used to it.
"Thank you, Valencia," I said quietly. Even though I said I didn't care about her approval, it felt nice to be accepted. She directed me upstairs to Lily's room. I went inside and sat on her bed. She had the most girlish room I've ever seen.Keira was right about one thing. Lily was definitely the cutesy type, the kind I usually stayed away from. Who knew I would fall head over heels for someone like that?
"Sorry I can't hang out with you this Saturday." Lily pouted."Why not?" I asked."One of my friends from my old high school is coming over to visit, so I promised him I would keep this Saturday free to catch up," she replied.Him? A hint o
"Darren, please, you told me you'd give Jacob a chance," Lily said."And I said I don't trust him," the stupid jerk said.I couldn't keep my cool anymore. I wanted to break his stupid mouth. I stepped closer to him. Ready to throw a punch.
Darren really pissed me off. I can't believe he openly challenged me. If Lily weren't there, I would have beat the living shit out of him.But I knew I had to keep my cool for Lily.It was mid-April, so the whole school was planning for the spring fling. Lily wanted to go, but I thought it was lame.
Valencia opened the door and looked at me intently."You clean up nice, Mr. Jacob," she commented."A compliment from my ol' gal Val. I must be dreaming," I smirked when she looked annoyed.Lily came downstairs wearing a backless red skater
"Care for a drink?" Darren said and waved a bottle of whiskey in front of us."Oh my god, Darren! Where did you get that? Put it away," Lily exclaimed.Sarah giggled. "He got it out of my dad's liquor cabinet. It's okay. He won't even notice it gone!"
