Time seemed to stretch as I shifted uneasily on my feet, trying to ignore the cramping between my legs before Michael threaded his blood-stained hands through his hair, staining the blonde with tinges of dark red.

“If you promise to let me bring guards to the cabin and fortify it as I wish, then you can stay until the next full moon,” Michael Gotham murmured, and I sucked in a breath, exchanging wide-eyed looks with the rogue before shaking my head.

“How do you intend to do that without Anthony finding out?” Klein hedged, the caution in his voice evident.

“Let me worry about that,” Michael snapped, narrowing his eyes at the rogue who backed off with his palms splayed.

“Okay…alright then Michael,”

“I'll go have this cleaned up then, sleep well Elena, I'll be down here doing what I can with this door if you need me,” Klein Markov whispered, patting my shoulder and motioning to the broken-down door meaningfully as Michael winced in the corner of my eye.
