Chapter 36: Shadowed Peril

As the moon cast its silver glow over the silent forest, Samantha felt a shiver run down her spine. She had never felt so vulnerable, alone in the wilderness with nothing but her thoughts and the looming presence of the Alpha King.

"Are you scared?" a voice whispered behind her, sending a chill through her bones. She whirled around to face him, her heart racing with a mixture of fear and uncertainty.

"I'm not scared," she replied, trying to sound defiant even as her voice trembled.

The Alpha King stepped closer, his eyes gleaming in the darkness. "You should be," he said softly, his voice sending shivers down her spine. "You're far from home, Samantha. And out here, you're at my mercy."

Samantha swallowed hard, her hands trembling at her sides. She knew she should be afraid, but there was something else stirring within her—a flicker of defiance, a spark of courage.

"I'm not afraid of you," she said, her voice steadier now, more confident.
