128: The Night Is Here

YVONNE —

The day was going quicker, and the night was drawing nearer. It was already three o'clock in the afternoon, and all I had been thinking about was what I had planned on doing when it was dark everywhere. However, my heart skipped a beat whenever I recalled it because I knew it was a dangerous move that I was about to take.

I was still in my room, browsing through my phone, when I heard a knock on the door.

"Yes, who is there?" I asked and waited for an answer, but the person did not respond. Instead, he or she knocked for the second time.

"Who is there?" I yelled with a loud voice, and then the person responded.

"The lunch is ready, ma'am," she stated.

As I identified the voice, a slight hiss escaped from my mouth as I realized she was the deaf chef whose skills in cooking were extraordinary. This was the reason she could not hear me when I responded the first time she knocked.

"I had heard you. I will be on my way to the dining room," I replied.
