Two Months Later

SOPHIA —

I was lying helplessly today on the corner of the gutter when a car ran across me, splashing me with dirty water from the potholes as usual.

To my greatest surprise, the car halted and the driver alighted. It was a lady. I thought she was coming to scold me for not avoiding her car at first, but I was shocked to my bone marrow as I noticed it was Yvonne.

"Oh my goodness! Sophia, is this you?" she screamed as she noticed I'm the person. She must be really happy.

Tears streamed down my cheeks immediately because I concluded that she would make a joke of me, but the reverse was the case. She ran to me and helped me get up.

"Yvonne, I'm really sorry for everything I have made you pass through in life," I apologized, crying.

"It's okay, Sophia. That is not necessary right now. You need proper medical attention first. That is the most important thing," she said, opening the back door of the car for me to enter.
