Unexpected encounter

I grabbed the now dented bike to pedal my way out of there but it was no use because the rim was broken and so was the handle.

"Hey you, wait!"

I looked at him, dropped the bike and ran because I saw Dante coming like a raging bull.

Now my ass was really in trouble. I have no way out of this situation I placed myself in.

I walked back home, looking over my shoulder every chance I got to make sure no one was following me.

Outside the door to my apartment, I took a calming breath and smoothed my hair, then slide the door open.

"Thank God she's alive," Cooper said, did a spin, then dropped down on the sofa.

"We heard gunshots. I thought you died," Jenna said, and I could tell she had been crying.

"I'm fine."

"No, the hell you are not. Dante almost killed you." Cooper gave me a look.

"But he didn't."

"Anyway, what did he want?" Jenna asked, cutting off any argument before it could build.

"He wants 1 mill
