CHAPTER ONE

Rose POV

“I refuse to marry that bloody stranger that has come from nowhere to brainwash you!” I yelled, as I threw the contract papers to the floor.

“You dare not yell at your grandfather!” He yelled back, all guilty washed on my face instantly.

“Will we continue with the wedding preparation whether you sign those papers or not and that’s final!” He concluded, and he signaled his guard to push his wheelchair

I washed the man dressed in black suit and pushed his wheelchair out of the living room.

“Arrrghhh…” I ran my hands through my hair out of frustration and slumped down on the couch.

Why is he doing this to me?. Daniel Prescott is the last person I want to get married to, at least not with the rumors I’ve heard of him.

He is known to punish and maltreat the female gender ever since he lost his parents to the cold hand of death but the most confusing thing is why my Grandfather is marrying me off to him.

“Is he doing this impending his demise?” I muttered as I picked the contract paper up again.

This is the twenty-first century and contract marriages don't work anymore, especially when I’m from a noble family. Grandfather owns and controls the empire but he had kept that a secret from the world. After my parents demise, he brought me into his home and trained me so hard to be able to control his business.

At the age of nineteen I was already good at so many things like Dancing, Taekwondo, boxing and acquired many skills like cooking, handling the family business and so many other things.

I’m very sure he didn’t train me to end up being a common housewife to a ruthless billionaire, Daniel Prescott.

No way!! I stomped out of the place with the papers and went to my room.

There must be something I can do to avert this, I was trained to be an independent woman not a stupid housewife to a dumbass billionaire.

Something has to be done but ever since I was a kid, Grandpa is the toughest man to convince or handle and that’s exactly what had kept his company running for the past 20 years I had known him.

I was changing from my work clothes when a loud bang on my door caught me off guard.

“Who’s there?” I grabbed one of my comfy top, and walked to the door:

I opened the door only to reveal Grandpa’s guard, he looked petrified.

“What’s wrong?” I questioned.

“Sir relapsed and had to be rushed to the hospital. It’s serious this time” he dropped the bombshell on me.

“What?!!” I ran downstairs instantly and went to the car garage.

“My car key??” I yelled angrily.

“You took him to the hospital without informing me first?!!” I yelled angrily at the driver.

“That’s his order ma and I will be driving you ma” The driver replied politely.

“Are you okay?!, give me my car key!”

He didn’t move and I finally gave in. I kept trying my best friend's number all through my way to the hospital but she wasn’t speaking.

“Pick up my call!” I bit my fingernails shivering as I dialed her number one last time but it went straight to voicemail.

I stopped dialing when we got to the hospital and just like they were waiting for me, the nurse directed me to the doctor in charge of my Grandfather's treatment.

“What do you mean by Grandpa has just one month left or less?” My heart beats rapidly, and for the first time it actually dawned on me that he’s the only family I had left.

“He has been stressed out lately and worried. He might not make it past these few days mentioned if something isn’t done about it.” He searched through a few files on his table and passed me a paper.

“Did you two argue or something?” He questioned.

“no…” I flipped each page trying to understand what’s in the paper.

“If I were you, I would grant his wishes. Remember he is doing this because he wants to protect you, he doesn’t want you to be left alone fighting the world” I stayed quiet, I don’t even know what to say.

“What’s the paper about?” I asked?

“Oh! That’s his medication analysis. Grandpa hasn’t been using his drugs” He blurted out.

I barged into Grandpa’s ward angrily, I met the nurse attending to him and thankfully he is awake.

“What the hell is wrong with you? Why haven’t you been taking your drugs?? Are you trying to leave me alone?” I cried out, I rushed to him and hugged him.

“Papa” I lost it, and burst out crying.

“Daniel is a good man and I will never push you to help. You don’t have to stay with him even after my demise because he is the only one that can save you from whatever is coming in the future. You might not understand now but you will understand soon, Rose” He said, with commendation.

“I’ve trained you so well, you should know marriage is a trade in our world, moreover you don’t have to do anything with that bastard just pretend to be his wife, even if I know he hates everyone. Daniel will kill any soul that touches his wife. Please my daughter.” he urged.

I pulled away to see his face, he wiped my tears and smiled at me.

“I will be fine but my last wish is to see you get married before I can finally lay to rest” He smiled at me, and I found myself getting so emotional and cried the most.

That night I stayed at the hospital overnight to take care of him. I texted my best friend about the whole wedding thing and that was the night I made the decision to sign the contract.

I’m willing to do anything for my Grandfather. If this is all he wants as a reward for all he has done for me since I was brought to his home when I was just five years then so shall it be.

I signed a deal to marry a beast.
