Belle had now made a seat inside Lady Edit’s house. The witch continued to stare at her while she sit down holding to the teacup with her fingers tightening. She felt as though she was about to be absorbed by waves from the awkwardness.

To end her suffering, Belle spoke, “How long have you lived in the forest?”

“As long as s I have remembered,” Lady Edith responded. “What about you? Most witches started studying their witchcraft from childhood but you come only now.”

“I thought you have heard everything about me,” whispered Belle. She caught Lady Edith scoffing.

“Guess you’re unlucky like me. Do you know what others call me in the coven?” Lady Edith asked her back.

She thought for a second then shaking her head, “No.”
