Dancing for the devil

Athena's POV

His words caused goosebumps to appear on my skin as if they were some sort of disease, and for a short period of time, my brain was unable to process anything before returning to normal.

It was quite challenging for me to swallow my sinful thoughts about him as I cleared my throat.

"Mr. Valentin, I belong to no one!" I lashed out at him.

"Shh!" He reached out to cup my cheek, but he abruptly stopped and I realized I was holding my breath.

"Shit!" I yelled, massaged my face with my hands, and took a long breath.

"What have you done to me?" He clenched his palm into a fist, let go of it, and took a little step away from me as I asked him with frustration.

Even though I thought that was a really odd action, I ignored it.

I was aware that he had not harmed me; I was well-versed in werewolves, but he was a pure-blooded lycan, a demon lycan. He was so worth it, worth drooling over, and I just wanted to lick him. Werewolves and their mates are destined by the moon goddess, which meant that I had finally found my soulmate.

I wasn't sure if it was because romance had never been high on my list of priorities or because I wanted to play the game to win.

My soul mate, the one for me, was the man standing in front of me. I could hug the moon goddess if only she could materialize out of nowhere, but I was still a deadly Mafia king and, even worse, the leader of a pack that was incredibly dangerous.

The Crown Crest pack was a sizable, powerful pack made up of powerful individuals who were bloodthirsty. Everyone feared and despised them to the core because anyone who ventured into their path would be killed.

In the end, I found out that my closest friend, Alexei, was Valentin Rostislav's brother, making him a true-blooded demon lycan. But much though I wanted to shout, I should have known. I wasn't sure if he was as beautiful as his brother, but he was quite mysterious and attractive.

"If you are so fearful and protective about your job, you can kept it." Valentin unexpectedly said bringing me out of my thoughts.

My eyes widened shock. I didn't expect him to say that at all.

"How?" My voice suddenly became small.

Valentin smiled deviously and I knew immediately that I had entered a tiny pickle.

"You will dance for me, my personal dancer." He said, his deep voice lingering with amusement and and bit of anticipation.

"Your mate and your dancer?" I asked and scoffed shaking my head in disbelief. "It's like dancing for the devil."

"Whatever you say noisemaker," Valentin chuckled deeply.

His chuckle made my heart skip several beats and I almost winced in pain.

Why was this man affecting me this way? It was torture and I loved it!

"You will be taken care of and anything you need will be given to you." Valentin said and proceeded towards the door.

"What? Wait what about my brother?!" I had to ask.

Valentin halted, he placed his hand on the door's handle. "Alive," He replied and opened the door.

I placed my hand on my chest and sighed in relief. "Thank you."

"No need for that, noisemaker." I could hear humour in that deep seductive voice of his.

I held my breath.

"I want to see him."

"Once you are comfortable and settled in, you will see him." Valentin said, walked out and closed the door softly behind him.

I squealed and instantly began breathing, collapsing to the bed and buried my face in it.

I quickly fell asleep before being startled awake by the sound of the knock on the door.

I massaged my weary eyes, got out of bed, and limped over there. I stopped and swallowed while holding the door handle, hoping that I wouldn't open it to see Alexei. I wasn't ready to see him, and it wasn't because I was afraid of him; rather, it was because I felt betrayed and deceived.

Why didn't he tell me?

Although the majority of werewolves governed the planet and were not in hiding, my best friend kept me in the dark.

I had a serious scowl and opened the door to discover a cheerful woman wearing an expensive yet simple brown suit.

She was stunning despite having her hair pulled back neatly into a ponytail and wearing no makeup.

"Miss Athena, I am Tamara Collie your personal body guard and I am here to introduce myself to you because you will be seeing me around often." She spoke sternly making me speechless by how thick her voice was.

"B..body guard?" I asked confused then frowned deeply. "Tell Mr Valentin Rostislav that I do not need a bodyguard." My back was against the door as I turned and shut the door.

"Messed up!" I exclaimed stomping my feet and dug my fingers into my hair.

I had not anticipated any of this but yet it was happening.

Valentin was my mate but he was also my captor.

Oh my god! He kidnapped me!

I returned to the bed, slouched down on it, and moaned aloud as my stomach grumbled. "Fuck!"

Did I want to embrace the life I would start living then?

Yes!

I had my mate, discovered that I am truly half human and half demon—information from which I have yet to fully recover—and I was going to be ridiculously wealthy.

I laughed out loud and then closed my eyes. Wow, what a day.

I became enraged as I heard the door knock again. I sprang off the bed, ran to the door, and yelled as soon as I opened it.

"Did you miss what I said? I can take care of myself, I don't need a bodyguard!" As I yelled, I didn't want to look at his face. "Tell your boss that if he wants me too, he should ram his fingers up his ass."

Yes! I eventually stopped talking when I turned to look and saw Alexei standing directly in front of me, wearing a gorgeous smile.

He laughed, "Hello Athena."
