Chapter 5

The knock on my door makes me drop my phone and roll my chair forward. "Come in." Seth walks in and bows as usual.

"Boss, Collins Fisher is here."

"Let him in." He walks out of the door and close it. Soon, he walks in again, this time with Collins behind him. Seth walks back to shut the door and then come to stand beside my table. "Sit." I command.

He looks quite afraid but he's obviously making an effort to hide it and control himself.

He sits opposite me, as ordered. I study him as he looks at Seth, slowly studies the room then finally settles his eyes on me.

"You want us to lend you a huge sum of money." I state, not question.

He nods. "Yes."

Before today, the last time I heard of Collins Fisher was when Seth told me about another client who wants to be lended money like that old man. I couldn't attend the meeting then because I had some other important work to do. More like an important issue to take care of. Seth told me the update of the meeting and now another meeting is being held to conclude everything.

"I was informed that you read the contract and you agree to it?"

"Yes, I do. They meet up to my standards."

"It's good they do." I rest back on my office chair. "So tell me, what do you have to give in exchange for a huge sum of money."

"A life."

"A life." I rest my hand on the arm rest and brush my beard with my fingers. A life. I am now more interested in this meeting, Collins, and everything he has to offer. I like where this is going.

"You'll give me a huge sum of money and I'll give you a lady. She's quite interesting, unique and I'm sure you will like her."

"Hmmm. Why don't you want her for yourself then?"

"I've had her to myself. I'm done with her. I need her for the money now."

I study him a bit. He's wise, but with these words, I don't think he can be trusted enough. "So basically, she's the life in exchange for a money?"

"Yes."

"A life you are done with?"

"Yes."

"That isn't worthy enough. She's useless to you, so I doubt she will be of any use to me too."

"Trust me. You'll want her when you see her."

"Quite the convincer, but I don't like sharing."

"It's really not how you see it." He moves further on his seat, closer to the table and rests his hand on it. "We did date, there was a time I used to like her but then I found someone else. She just wasn't my type. Your taste is different from mine. Believe me when I say, I can proudly say that the lady I got for you, is your taste."

"Do you think your plans, align with the contract?"

"I went through them. The rules, the deal. All I saw was her, for this. She, is the perfect deal."

"You talk so highly of her and my taste. You barely know me or what I like." I raise my brows, waiting for a reply.

"Because one could guess the taste of a man like you." He was scared when he walked in, but just look at him now. Bold as a lion. I'm so bent on seeing the end result if this. He won't be bold enough to face the consequences. He knows me too little.

"Perfection." Is all I say.

"That's what you shall get."

He speaks so highly of her and I can't help but wonder what she's actually like. Her eyes, face and dammit, her body. I'm starting to doubt I won't like this offer when I see what she's like. Who knows, she might be way better than what comes out of his mouth about her.

"I like that." He smiles and remove his hand from the table to sit back properly. "Any alternative?" By his look, I get he didn't understand the question. "If she doesn't work out, I mean, if she turns out not to be of my taste, do you have any other thing to replace it?"

He's quiet for a moment. His prolong thoughts give me an answer. It will be unfortunate for him to end up like that old man and his son.

"No. No, I don't." I smirk as I notice the boldness in his tone has now reduce.

"That's disappointing." I play with my cufflink.

"I don't but trust me. She won't be a disappointment."

"I guess we'll know then...and I do hope that our meeting doesn't turn out to be a waste of time."

"It's not, I assure you."

"I was just really interested in what you have to offer and wanted to know how much of a great deal your proposal is."

"I hope you are impressed."

"I hope I will be." I send a quick smile his way then adjust my face to a normal one.

"I have this belief that money is life."

"Turns out we have a mutual belief." I answer in a bored tone.

"I need life in exchange for a life."

I smile. A genuine one, for the first time since the meeting began.

"A life for a life." My smile widens. "I like the sound of that." "Sounds better than nothing." He smiles along. He's truly happy over this money he's gonna get. Seems to me, he couldn't afford much. Anyways, he wouldn't be rich, yet borrowing.

"We should seal the deal then." I look up at Seth and gesture him to give Collins the file. He does as told after flipping to the page which requires our signature. "Sign here." He points.

I watch him sign the file until he finished then he slide it across the table to me. I sign where required and hand over the file to Seth.

"So tell me. This life you have to give, who's she? I'm so interested." I tap my fingers on the armrest, waiting for his answer.

He proudly rests his back against the office chair and smiles. "Janet Johnson."

I nod. Her name playing in my head. I get distracted from my thought when my phones' ringtone fill the room. I pick it up without wasting much time.

"Boss." One of my men calls. "There is a problem."

I look up at Seth then at the table. "What's that?"

"The ship transporting our weapons, can't be found."

"What!" I furrow my brows. "When did you realize this?"

"Eight minutes ago, boss."

"I'll be right there." I say through gritted teeth and end the call.

"What's the problem, boss?"

I stand. "We need to go Seth, a big problem has arise." I grab my phone and look up to Collins then at Seth. "Order three men to follow him to get her."

"Today?" Collins ask.

I look at him. "Janet Johnson. I need her today." With that, I angrily walk out of the office.
