Chapter 50: Let Loose

Another paramedic walked in. He was a middle-aged man. His name was Henry.

“My name is Henry. I am sorry about what happened earlier.”

“Not your fault,” said, Joshua. He was trying to get up from Emily but was struggling as his legs were sore.

“Are you okay?” asked the older paramedic, noticing Joshua’s wobble.

“Yeah. I’m not sure why I’m so sore,” said Joshua, limping.

“Well, you probably strain yourself when you were swimming in the river.”

“Oh, how so?”

“Well, I mean when your body is in a panic when you’re in that freezing water. So, you use every ounces of your muscles and energy to stay alive. Your legs were probably using muscles they haven’t used in a long time, so that’s probably why you’re aching.”

“Odd,” said Joshua.

“Do you exercise on a daily basis?” asked the older paramedic.

“Yes. Yes, I do. Nearly every day. I’m pretty fit.”

“For sure. I can see that. But then you lose it all son when you get married and have kids.” The older paramedic tapping his belly.
