41: At Seven-thirty

I was dumbfounded. Am I hallucinating or is this real? But the glow of red in his eyes looked too real for me to doubt.

"Why are you here, Carter?" I said and glanced at the man lying a few yards away, unconscious.

"Should I be the one asking you that? Why are you here when you are supposed to be with that friend of yours? He left you?" The way he mentioned the word 'friend' was very lethal that it sent shivers down my spine.

"I asked first. Why are you here?"

"Does that even matter? You were close to being harassed, Eve, and we don't know what could have happened to you if I didn't arrive."

"Well, thank you very much," I said with a hint of sarcasm. I don't know how I would treat him or if I should greet him like we didn't agree to stay out from each other's life.

"I will go back now. Maybe Jaxon has came back," I said and was about to leave him there when he held my wrist. I looked down his hand and he quickly withdrew his hold.
