20. Broken hearts

Tallulah’s POV

Fear, when at its peak, can have different end forms. It can result in shame, nervousness, sadness, or even rage. But the fear that crawled up my skin as he strode forward, holding up the rumpled blue shirt was one I couldn't understand.

I was afraid of what he'd do after all the lies I fed his father. I was also afraid that something worse than my nakedness was exposed to his charming eyes. It was my feelings, knowing he was starting to realize that I might still love him.

But most of all, I was afraid of myself. I was afraid that I might not be able to stop myself from letting his touches take control of my body with his lips colliding against mine. That's why I knew I needed to leave this house as soon as possible, before anything happens between us.

“Stop.” I said, my voice barely above a whisper.

He halted in his strides, with his eyes fixed on me.

“I know what you're doing, Marcus. And I need you to stop.”
