67. His Heartache

Tallulah's POV

“Alright. Let's try that again.”

His low voice filled the air, snapping me out of my gaze which was fixed on the hand brakes. He had driven us back to where we started before letting me take the wheel. This time, I remembered to release it before attempting to start the car.

“Just… try not to get us killed this time.” He said.

The sight of him pulling his seatbelt and strapping it tightly around himself made me both nervous and annoyed. I couldn't believe he was making a stupid joke about the whole thing, a joke that was making it impossible for me to concentrate.

“Of course, remind me over and over again like that's gonna help.” I scoffed, rolling my eyes.

He snickered.

“My bad. I won't remind you about it anymore.” He voiced, a sinister smile bracing his lips.

“It's not like you intentionally stepped on the turtle too much and almost slammed the car against a concrete wall. It was just an accident, that's all.”
