Chapter One: Celebration

The entire open ground was covered with countless gods, goddesses and their deities, all scattered all over the garden as they chatted whilst having some wine, juice and fruits with bread and other sweet goodies and meats.

The trees above them curved into a dorm-like shape over the crowd underneath them to act as a hall room made from bulky brunches and lovely fresh scented flowers around it.

The vines along the trees meshed themselves together with the roots of the trees to create natural chairs, benches and tables for the guests as commanded by the fairy of the forest.

Fairies were not at all as big as a god but merely smaller than humans, almost the height of an average human child.

The trees making the dorm hall began to play in rhythm from the air rushing into their flute-like branches, producing soft melodies as the flares, humanlike creatures the size of a honey bird, began to hum in a soft tone, just enough to entertain the guests.

"Congratulations again." Hades held up his cup towards his deity, Aubrey, who glanced up from his seat and into Hades' dark eyes.

"Thanks." Aubrey nodded as he slightly smiled and lifted his wine glass.

The two men tapped their glass together before Hades went on and chugged down the rest of the wine before sitting down on the chair, facing Aubrey.

Aubrey, despite having his wine, simply placed his wine glass down on the table without taking a sip.

"Aren't you going to drink up?" Hades asked as he watched Aubrey's somewhat mute expression. "It's your last night of freedom."

"My last night of freedom was yesterday." Aubrey said as he lifted his wine glass and stirred the wine inside. "Tonight, when my bride is coming, I can't meet her in a drunken state."

"For a deity I am responsible for, you surely don't seem to have the urge to have more than you need." Hades stood up from his seat and placed the glass on the table. "Makes you a worthy deity." He said before turning and leaving the table, where Aubrey would finally sigh out in relief, glad that his responsible god did not have much to talk about unlike most of the gods.

He did not really talk to Hades much often as Hades was a very concealed god and usually kept himself to himself.

The only thing Aubrey could wish for was that his selected soulmate would arrive as quickly as possible.

He just didn't understand why all the gods, goddesses and deities had to be there for the occasion. He was just fine if it were just him, the Oracle and the three sisters. However, there always had to be a gathering if there was any being, be it immortal or mortal, being introduced into the immortal realm.

On his day of becoming a deity, he was visited by Hades alone in the mortal realm who then observed him through countless tests and passed despite him not wanting to win intentionally. He just assumed Hades was just an ordinary business man with very weird suggestions and tests.

Then again, after Hades had removed him from the mortal realm, he came into the immortal realm where the first thing he saw before him were the gods, goddesses and confused soon-to-be deities. They were forced into drinking the drink of 'immortality' and eating a fruit he had forgotten about over time, since it had been over two centuries so far.

So he wasn't that surprised that everyone was here to meet his wife as well.

"Hi there, Hades's deity right? You must be..." A man, suddenly appearing by his side, paused mid sentence for Aubrey to continue. Aubrey furrowed his brows in annoyance when he knew too well who this man was. It was Aphrodite's deity, a man who just loved the idea of being a subordinate to a powerful woman.

"I don't think I need to tell you my name because you very well know who I am. We've known each other since we were both humans." Aubrey rolled his eyes and clicked his tongue, completely annoyed. Xun, Aphrodite's deity, chuckled out as he sat on the seat that Hades had been sitting on earlier.

"Want to know how I became a deity of a very attractive goddess?" He asked with a smirk plastering his lips, forcing Aubrey to roll his eyes again. "It's because I just love women with power. She's a very strong woman and still beautiful at that. Funny how a male needed up there. I might even become a god of beauty and love one day, isn't that a bit awkward?" He chuckled out, smacking his hand against the table. "However, Aphrodite saw that I didn't have a particular view of women. Like I said, I only love women with power and turns out she loved the thought of me not caring what women looked like."

Xun, despite his parallel character was a very attractive man with features that could cut skin. His jaw was every defined and sculpted to perfection, ever since he was human. It wasn't surprising Aphrodite picked him, if she picked him based from what he looked like, Aubrey would agree with her choice. But she chose only because he didn't value a woman's appearance.

Xun was a very annoying man to be around, mostly because he loved the thought of showing his strength to anyone, to look more powerful than any other person he undermined. That was his only flaw. But even though he loved showing he was more powerful, he also loved the thought of being put in his place by a woman. To him, a man can't be more powerful than women, that's what he solemnly believed in.

"Why do you love powerful women so much?" Aubrey asked as he took a very small sip of his wine, just so that Xun wouldn't start asking about it.

"Women are just supposed to be more powerful than men. They're more complex than men biologically and mentally. I just think they deserve to be more powerful, no matter what they look like or how they act. They just need to be more powerful." Xun explained with wide eyes of adoration as he glanced over to his goddess who was currently talking to Zeus and Diana. "Aphrodite's just perfectly powerful and she knows how to control the men she wants." He sighed out admirably as a smile creped onto his lips. "I want to marry that Queen one day." With that, Aubrey scoffed and glanced away from Xun who was just really obsessed with powerful women.

Surprising for Aubrey, Xun hadn't been attacked by demons and dark gods yet, which kind of irritated Aubrey a bit. But since Xun was often around Aphrodite, he was very unlikely he would be targeted. Unlike Aubrey who had his own castle in a realm full of countless species.

He didn't live in Hades's realm mostly because Hades simply didn't want to babysit his deity all the time. Aubrey was okay with that. He had all the riches he could ever ask for, so he managed to find a few undead servants, living servants he could pay and a kingdom to look after of his own.

There was no problem about it.

So he thought.
