“It’s nothing, honey. Trust me, whatever it is, I will handle it,” he said, reaching for my hand across the table. But I pulled away, feeling angry.

“We, Rick. We will handle it. You are not alone in this. Not especially after you have signed me as a shareholder. We will sort out issues together and make important decisions together,” I said, trying to sound calm and supportive. But I was far from it. I wanted to know what was going on in his company, what secrets he was keeping from me.

“So? Tell me,” I said, leaning forward on his chair. He shifted uncomfortably, avoiding my gaze.

“It’s not something I want to talk about right now,” he said, taking a sip of his wine. I nodded, pretending to accept his answer.

“Okay, fine. If you don’t want to talk about it, it’s fine,” I said, pouring myself a glass of juice. I needed something refreshing to cool down my temper.

“Are you angry about it?” He asked, looking at me with concern. I shook my head, forcing a smile.
