Chapter 61: No chances

Kahlan POV

"Elder!" A maid called and moved closer just as I was battling to show my anger. Maybe I would have hit her if someone hadn't shown up. Even though I knew she was one of the elders and obviously stronger than I am.

"I think you should come to the kitchen, your attention is needed there right now," the maid informed.

Charlotte regarded me for another moment with a dirty look. "Sure but you should escort Kahlan to Naomi's room," she told her and turned to look at me. " Be a good girl and I might decide to spare your life for now," she warned.

I opened my mouth to say something but decided against it quickly. She doesn't worth my words anyways, none of them does. Not even Eric that acts as if he loves me but is only concerned about having an heir.

The maid turned to look at me, "let's go," she said and started walking away.

My gaze searched around the room quickly before I followed her. Actually, I thought Hardin could be somewhere in the hall but I was wrong.
