Chapter Fifty-six

Damien sat in his office, surrounded by the heavy silence that had plagued their home for the past week. Inside the dimly lit office, the weight of sorrow pressed upon him. His mind wandered, searching for a distraction, something to numb the pain that gnawed at his heart. He couldn’t bear the sight of Brenda locked away in their bedroom, consumed by her grief. He stared blankly at the computer screen, his mind consumed by thoughts of their devastating loss. Brenda, his wife, remained locked in their bedroom, her tears flowing freely as she mourned the child they had lost through miscarriage. No matter how much Damien tried to comfort her, her pain seemed to exceed any words he could offer.
