Chapter 55: To Gain the Lambs' Trust

Bitter, cold wind slapped his face, rinsing him from the jealousy that tried to redden his cheeks.

He didn’t know and could never guess what—or who—they talked about.

But the fact that Alain and his men have been in a close distance with Sasha ever since she has been released, not to mention the fact that Sasha had been brought to Alain’s apartment…it drove him mad.

Darkness softly spread in a thin line around him. No, it wasn’t the darkness of the night. It was the darkness of someone else. Alpha Alain.

He only knew about Sasha staying—living—in the Shadow Alpha’s apartment when Klea told him minutes before this meeting started. He hasn’t yet confronted Alain about that, but Ansel already knows the answer even if he confronts him now in front of his pack.

Somehow, Alain is always one step ahead of him.

But not anymore.

Ansel scanned the crowd once. Ansel didn’t spy Beta Apollo anywhere near Sasha again—not as the darkness swirled
