Chapter 136

Jeffrey clenched his jaw, frustration twisting his features. "Kidnapped? I thought I told you to get her."

"Yeah, well, finding her hideout took longer than expected," Richard's gruff voice on the other end replied. "Turns out someone else was after her too, and they beat us to it."

Jeff gritted his teeth. "Sounds like she's more trouble than she's worth. Make sure you find her."

With that, he hung up.

Chloe wanted to ask him who was on the line and if everything was fine, but she shrugged and decided to swallow it. He might start thinking that she cares since she's prying into his business.

Jeff turned to look at Chloe, and the tenderness in his eyes returned. “Uh…” he started, but his words were lost in her blue eyes.

He wanted her to meet their son, Nathan, so badly, but she didn't even believe they'd been married. The doctor had advised him not to push it.

So tomorrow, he'll take her to the Chinese restaurant that they've visited before. Perhaps it'll help.
