His gaze darted from Eric to me, his jaw visibly clenched.

“Hey, uh…” I tried to speak to Jeffrey, but the words refused to leave my mouth, and then he tore his gaze from mine and walked away.

Goodness! Why did Eric have to come out now?

Taking a sharp breath, I freed myself from Eric's grip immediately. “Let's just go,” I snapped at Eric.

“Are you okay?” He asked as soon as we got into the car.

Would've been if you didn't decide to show up then.

“I'm fine,” I murmured.

“I had a really great time with you today,” he said.

Well, I can't say the same.

“Perhaps we should do this again some other time?” he continued.

I scoffed internally. Do what? Hell no.

“Mmmmh,” I hummed.

I got back to the office and tried to finish with the documents before the end of work hours, but my mind constantly kept drifting to what had happened earlier.

I arrived home late. And after a quick shower and having dinner, I retired to my room and slumped into my mattress.

What a day!
