Chapter 38

Lucas walked into my office with Oliver and another young lad. He looks so uncomfortable being in the same room with us, but then everybody who knows about us doesn’t want to work with us.

Staring at the boy, I wondered how such a little kid can do such. “What’s your name lad?” I already know his name, where he lives, who his parents are, and what college he is attending. I ask them these personal questions just to unnerve them and make them feel that sharing their personal information is an agreement that I should come after them if they mess up.

“Kyle.” He muttered. I could barely hear him.

“Use your voice lad,” I ordered in a calm tone. I need his head leveled before he gets into work. Scaring him before he starts working isn’t necessary. When it’s necessary is after he’s done working.

“My name is Kyle.” He said a little louder, although his voice sounded squeaky, no doubt from the fear of standing before me. “But my friends call me K.”
