Chapter 75: Breakdown

I opened my eyes weakly, only to close it when the strong light hurt my eyes instantly. I counted a few seconds before slowly opening my eyes again. This time, my vision gradually adjusted with the light until it was no longer hurting my eyes. The white ceiling of the room welcomed my sight.

“Anak, kumusta?”

I thought I was alone inside the room until my mother rushed toward me to check on me. Agad kong naramdaman ang marahan niyang paghaplos sa buhok ko.

“Ayos na po ako, 'Nay.”

I slowly adjusted my position on the bed. Mula sa pagkakahiga ay maingat akong sumandal sa headboard ng kama. Dahil sa paggalaw ay naramdaman ko ang labis na sakit sa ibabang bahagi ng katawan ko.

I scanned the whole room, hoping to see someone other than my mother but, we were alone inside. It was just the two of us.

There was no trace that the man I have been longing to see was here. For a minute I thought that it was just my hallucination. Baka gawa-agawa lang 'yon ng utak ko dahil sa labis na pangungulila
