Chapter 5

RYLAN'S POV

"Ry! I'm home!"

My heart almost jumped out of my chest when I heard a voice from the living room of the house, it  means Dylan was here. I was filled with nervousness because of what happened earlier, but I knew I still had to welcome him.

"Ah, Dylan, you're already there," I answered while peeking into the kitchen.

"Yes, and I have something for you," he said cheerfully when he entered the kitchen and placed the bag on the kitchen top.

I was intrigued by what he said so I approached. "Woah, donuts!"

He looked at me happily with a smile on his lips before speaking. "That's my reward to you because you enjoyed your first day at work."

When I heard what he said, I suddenly felt guilty. He is really kind and I hung up on him earlier.

"Ry, make me mango juice again like this morning, I'll just get dressed," he requested before heading up to his room.

"That's a shake, not a juice," I insisted as I followed him. The fool just grinned and didn't turn around.

While I was busy doing it, I only then thought that he had given me a nickname. Because it is called differently in the province. Usually they called me TISOY because I have white skin.

"Why did you only make one glass of SHAKE?" he asked while emphasizing the word shake.

"Because there are only two mangoes left, so I made only for you," I replied while cleaning the blender that was used.

"Come on, don't you want to join me?" he said as he waved me closer.

"Of course I would, I'll just finish cleaning it up."

While fixing the blender, I looked at him, because he hadn't started eating yet. "Why don't you eat already?"

"I'll wait for you so we can eat together." He even gave me a beautiful smile that made my chest feel tight again.

I don't know what's happening to me, but I'm sure of one thing, Dylan is bad for my health. Also because the glass of shake is just one, we just share it with each other.

"Uhm, Dylan, I'm sorry, I hung up on you," I said while looking at the donut I was holding, because I was embarrassed to look at him.

"That's nothing, I should be the one to apologize because I disturbed you even though I know you're busy."

What? Why is he the one who apologized? It's all my fault. If only I wasn't jealous---

Wait? I tilted my head to regain my thoughts. 'What's jealous? You were jealous earlier and why are you jealous, Rylan?'

Oh God, no! I'm not jealous, why should I be jealous, I'm just a housekeeper, and a boy. I'm sure he has a girlfriend.

"No! It's my fault---ohm!" I stopped talking when suddenly a donut shove into my mouth.

"Let's not think about that anymore, just enjoy this present I'll give you."

I didn't do anything because what he said was right especially and I had no intention of telling the real reason why I hung up on him.

"---Omph." It's my turn to slap a donut in his mouth.

I thought he would be angry, but instead he laughed so hard that I was catch it too.

'God, thank you for giving me not just a job but also a happiness'

WHEN THE DINNER CAME...

"We really need to go grocery shopping," he said while we were eating dinner.

"That's right, your fridge is only full of vegetables and eggs."

He nodded and said there was other frozen meat in the other room where the freezer was. I agreed and offered to help.

"Tomorrow is Saturday and I went grocery shopping on my day off, so there is still enough frozen meat in our freezer."

It turns out that Dylan also combined his day-off with me so that he could leave someone here at home.

I also thought about going to church during the week, fortunately he is the same way. That's good so we can be together and I won't be able to get a massage on the way there. I want to visit the house of God because I have a lot to be thankful for.

"Wait, how about the groceries?" I asked.

"After we go to church, let's go grocery shopping," he replied.

I nodded in agreement.

"Hmm, your cooked Mechado is really good."

I don't know if I'll be happy about his praise or annoyed because that's not mechado, but Caldereta.

◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇

I am here on the sofa watching a TV series on Television. Dylan had already left for his work and I had finished all my tasks for the day. It's really fun to watch here, it's like I'm in a movie theater because the size of the TV, I feel like I'm right in front of the characters I'm watching.

I also remembered that, since Dylan called my mom that same day my family called again to know how I was doing. Since I left our place, that was the only time I spoke to them again. They are also happy that I have found a job and that I am doing well.

I told them that I miss them so much and maybe at the end of the month I will be able to send money.

Mom thanked me, but she always told me to take care of myself and not to get too tired. I wanted to tell them a lot more and I wanted to talk to my brothers when suddenly the call was cut off, maybe the little bit that mom had pay for load was running out.

I don't have any money yet so I can't call them. The TV series I was watching ended when a cooking show started, I was very happy watching it.They are really good and the things they cook looks delicious, by the way, the cooking show is for making desserts like cakes, pies and others.

While I was watching, I suddenly remembered my favorite dessert, the graham cake, which I first tasted when I was attending a birthday party. That was the first and last time I try it. Since then, I really wanted to taste it again, but we didn't have the money to buy the ingredients to make it.

It's been a week and I'm excited because it's my very first day-off. 'What shall I do and where shall I go?' I asked myself.

I woke up early to prepare breakfast for Dylan and so we could eat before going to church. "Dylan! Wake up."

"You're seems so excited right now, Ry." I heard him say while walking into the bathroom.

"Of course, I'm really excited so hurry up and take a shower."

After we ate, I went back to my room to tidying myself. When I came out Dylan was sitting on the sofa, he looked at me from head to toe and suddenly shook his head.

I looked at myself, I was wearing my best t-shirt with the fewest holes and faded pants, accompanied by old slippers because I had no shoes.

"Don't you have better clothes?"

he commented before taking me back to his room and lending me his clothes. A little big, but more decent than what I was wearing earlier.

After some time we also reached the church. "God, thank you so much for all your blessings to me and for guiding me here in Manila, if it wasn't for you I might have given up a long time ago, I don't want to disappoint my family, I want to help them. Thanks to you because I met Dylan."

"----I know he's the one you sent to help me, but there are still things I don't understand when he's near, my heart beats faster and my face heats up.

I'm sorry for saying this to you because I have no one else to say. I hope you guide my family in the province, that's all. Amen." I prayed long and fervently while kneeling here inside the church.

'There are many people here in church, like me, pray to give thanks or ask for forgiveness.'
