I woke from shouting on the other side of the door. Xabat was still present, but thankfully, I wasn’t him anymore. Just my usual, human self.

He was quick to explain what had happened and how silver took me out. Apparently, I was in the hospital and the doctors had done a trick on us to ensure I lived. As childish as it sounded, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to anymore.

Yes, I knew my thoughts sounded like a temper tantrum of a toddler, but soon after I found my mate and realized we had no future together, I didn’t know if I could be the same after she left.

My thoughts nearly took over, at least until the voices became louder. Even in this messed up state, I could tell it was Eden and Titus, discussing something. Both of them sounded angry, but I couldn’t think of a thing they could disagree on.

Slowly, I sat up in the bed and tossed my legs over the edge. I felt like my body wasn’t my own anymore, but that didn’t hold me back from pushing and getting to my feet.
