Is She A Captive?

Taking one last look at Max who lay on the ground unconscious, I shrugged my shoulders before carrying my mate.

"Joey, I just hope she forgives me," I muttered softly to my beta.

But trust that idiot! He would never be an encouragement. I know he was going to take pleasure in mocking me for a while.

"I don't know, man. She looks tough! How about I bet that the first thing she would do was punch that pretty face of yours?" Joey remarked, stifling his grin.

I glared at him. I wondered what type of friend he was. He was supposed to be giving me hopes but he was bent on mocking me instead.

"Wipe that grin off before I wipe you off myself!" I said, throwing him a dirty look.

That did the trick as he quickly shut his mouth and followed me meekly, my mate lying unconscious in my arms. I knew she won't wake up anytime soon but I want to get home as soon as I can.

I don't want to give room to any mistakes.

There was only one thing on my mind right at that moment. I just wanted to leave as soon as possible. I never wanted the whole stuff to be this messed up. Although it already was, I have hopes of changing it for good.

But for now, everything was a total mess!

I ruffled my hair in frustration as I heaped Eleanor on my back. It would be easier and quicker than carrying her in my arms. That's because she was quite weighted.

I balanced her well over my shoulder, making sure she was comfortable as I walked out with my beta strolling lazily behind me.

I wish I could knock him out too!

THE RED BLOOD PACK

Loud trumpet was blown in the air upon the sight of my arrival. Yeah, I guess no one expected that I was going to make it out alive. Trust me, I never thought I would too.

But I was lucky because of my warrior mate. Thinking about her, there was a faint smile on my face which I quickly wipe off before anyone could see it.

Pack members strolled out from every angle in happiness, jubilating, screams could be heard in the air. Even a lame and deaf could simply tell that there was happiness in the air. My warriors came out in folds and changed into their wolf form while howling loudly making some happy noises jumping up.

I was ashamed when I remembered how helpless I was that day all my warriors were killed before my own eyes. But I don't want to dampen anyone's spirit, so I forced out a smile and waved my hands in the air.

I could tell that the smiles playing on my lips looked a little fake but I had no choice as I watched them celebrate my arrival. More noises erupted loudly in the air just by my single gesture.

I heaped Eleanor on my shoulder while they parted ways for me to go. That's when they realized someone else was with me.

I heard the murmurs among the pack members as some were wondering who the woman was, most assumed that she was to be held captive by me because she was in her warrior attire. I didn't have time for introduction or explanation.

"Is she a captive?"

"Do you need to ask? Can't you see her dressed as a warrior?"

"I bet she must be among the pack that captured our alpha! I wish I can see her face!"

I heard their words but I ignored everyone of them because there was only one thing on my mind was how I was going to face her when she wakes up. She won't surely take things likely with me when she wakes up.

She will surely feel cheated, which I am aware of. I could still see the way she looked at me when she learnt about who I am. It was eyes filled with total hatred and nothing else.

I dropped her on the bed contemplating whether I should help change her dress but I decided to let it be before walking out of the room.

Even if I need a rest I wouldn't want to stay in the same room when I know we aren't on good terms, not after what had transpired between us. So, with that I walked out of the room.

The guard at the door bowed down his head as he saw me walked out. I took another look at him before giving my orders.

"Don't let the lady out no matter what," I ordered with a stern face. They knew best not to disobey my order.

" Yes, Alpha!"

I turned around to leave, not taking another glance. That was the only word I had spoken ever since I arrived at the pack. Things hadn't been the way it was anymore. I needed to clear my mind.

I sent a mind link to my wolf, Karl. I do that whenever I am bothered and moreover this was about our mate. At this moment, I truly need a place to empty my thoughts and… fears.

"Karl, you think she's gonna accept me when she wakes up, huh?" I asked worriedly while looking lost walking to nowhere in particular.

"Let's assume, it was to you, will you have accepted that person as your mate? You caused this yourself. I warned you about it. You could have just come clean as soon as you knew she was our mate!" he replied, a little angry.

Although his voice sounded casual, I sensed he was equally angry about the whole stuff but this wasn't my fault

" Don't be unreasonable here. This wasn't my fault. Do you think if I had told her who I was at that moment, she would have embraced me? Let me tell you, Karl. She wouldn't have thought twice before killing me and you wouldn't be alive to be nagging at me," I replied, getting pissed.

I was damn frustrated and angry!

At least, he should be able to understand me and what made me do it. If that stupid Joel hadn't showed up when he did, I would have found a solution to it and things wouldn't get sticky like this not at all

" Oh! Am I been unreasonable? Then solve this yourself! Don't get me involve and mind you if she ever rejects you, just make sure you equally forget anything that has to do with me. Don't even think you have a wolf somewhere cause even the moon goddess knows that I will surely ignore and neglects you," he said, getting pissed too.

It wasnt a surprise that he snapped at me like that, after all, she was our mate.

I tried to calm him down but he already ended the connection between us. I ruffled my hair in frustration. Firstly, it was my mate and now even my wolf was mad at me.

It was so obvious that Eleanor was going to kill me if she find out that I abducted her to my pack.

Still wallowing in my thoughts, I picked up a familiar scent but I ignored it until I felt a hit on my head playfully. I don't need a soothsayer to tell me who it was. There was only one person bold enough to touch me and gets. close to me apart from Joey.

"Jessie stop, I am not in the mood to play," I said tiredly without turning to her.

Jessica was my childhood friend and the only lady I am free with. She was someone I confide in when I am troubled. She is like a sister to me we both shared some unbreakable bond and I so much respected and valued her

I heard her steps retreating behind me. I thought she had gone but at that moment I felt something hit my back, I turned back furiously to see a grinning jessie.

"Jessica!" I yelled furiously while charging towards her in fury.

"Hey dude, calm down I only…" I didn't let her complete her statements before raising my hand to hit.

She took to her heels immediately while laughing her ass out. I ran after her and it didn't take long before I caught up with her, holding her long black silky hair.

I rolled it, making her yelp out in pain. I left her hair after much pleas from her. We blsat down on the grass laughing out loudly after a while, we subsided while we both caught our breath. Silence befall the both of us each in our own thoughts.

"Thanks" I said while breaking the silence between us.

She looked at me with a confused look. I wasn't ready to hide anything from her.

"Thanks for the run. It really helped me calm my brain down," I quickly added when I noticed how confused she looked.

"It's fine buddy " she replied with a grin while hitting me on the shoulder playfully.

" So tell me what's bothering you," she asked while focusing her attention on me, I thought for a while before answering her questions

" I have hqve seen my mate, Jessy" I dropped the bombshell.

" What?" She exclaimed, catching me off guard.

Why was her tone… different?
