It Wasn't All A Lie ...

ALPHA GREGOR POV

"What's your name?" She asked stopping just by the doorway.

The grumpy red-haired guy stopped to like a loyal lapdog which I convinced myself he was.

I thought about her question for a while. There was no reason for her to be ignorant as to the name of the Alpha of her enemy pack. She'd definitely know my name even though it was clear she had no idea what I looked like. Telling her my real name would be foolishness on my part and I was no fool.

"I'm Garrett," I said holding my breath and steadying my heartbeat.

"Hmmm... Garrett." She said grinning at me.

Her smile twisted my insides as if my innards had been fed to a shredder.

"I'll be seeing you soon." She left with that.

I rested back on the bed.

There was no doubt that she was powerful. I could feel the strength oozing off her being while she was sitting close to me. As sleep took me away, my thoughts stayed on Eleanor.

ROUGHLY A MONTH LATER...ONE COLD EVENING

I waited just outside the door with my arms crossed. My chest heaved in the buttoned shirt I wore. I'd been a little too excited when I heard Eleanor had called for me but as I stood outside her door, my whole body tensed.

I panicked a little trying to think of a reason why she would call for me. During the month I'd spent there, she had shown a keen interest in getting to know me and my role in the pack. She had asked some suspicious questions about my pack's defences and things that would normally lead to our destruction if let out. I'd been smart enough to give her crappy information at every turn making sure to tell her as an Omega, there wasn't much I knew about anything.

What if she had finally decided I was of no use and she was about to send me on my way? There was a possibility that was the reason she had summoned me. My bones tensed just thinking about it.

"Come in." Her voice called out from within the room.

I took a deep breath before walking in.

She was dressed in a transparent blue nightdress. I could just make out the outline of her sensual figure. Something hot burned in me. It was the awakening of a primal instinct.

"You seem to have adjusted just fine, Garrett." She smiled.

I turned to face the papers on the far side table to avoid the effect of her smile. I knew at that moment I wasn't strong enough.

"Sure." I ruffled my hair. "All thanks to you, Miss."

"How many times must I tell you? Call me Eleanor." Her voice had a touch of softness.

I turned to her and froze under the intense glow of her purple eyes. There was no escape now. Her scent clouded my senses completely leaving me a shell of myself.

"Eleanor..." Her name rolled off my tongue.

There was something misty about her eyes that made me know she felt the same way I was feeling. I walked closer to the chair she sat on as our stare locked wholly. There was nothing else, just me and her and the moment.

Her lips parted and she gasped as I reached her. I stretched my arm towards her and sure enough, she got up and walked into it. We were like two people possessed with the spirit of lust. Cursed with insatiable desires.

My hands moved on her body feeling her delicate flesh, I growled. Her body burned me yet I touched it. She purred into my ear, "My mate."

I lifted her onto my hard body and walked up to the big bed where I gently dropped her as if she was made of glass. She curled and pulled me along needing my touch every step of the way.

My claws grazed her neck slightly and she whimpered in response. I was going to mark her and make her mine. She was all I needed to survive.

Breathing cool air against the flesh of her neck, I tasted her blood. My inner wolf growled and howled in a mad frenzied state. I felt invincible having her in my arms.

She pulled my wrist to her lips and kissed it. Then she took a delicate bite and tickled the spot with her tongue.

"You're mine forever," I whispered into her neck.

She howled in acceptance of my solemn vow...

I woke up in shock. Cold fingers ran through the length of my spine.

I struggled to keep my breathing levelled. There was someone out there who had purposely channelled his aura into getting me riled up. The aura was all too familiar to me. I knew exactly who was out there waiting for me and I knew what would happen if the woman resting by my side found out about my unwanted visitor.

I swung off the bed without disturbing the sheets. I grabbed my clothes and made my way to the door. Before leaving, I turned to look at the gorgeous woman sleeping. She was the most adorable creature in the world. It was a hard thing to do but there was no other way. I left.

He stood in the shadows just out of sight. He knew I was the only person strong enough to sense him in the place and this I confirmed when I saw the smirk on his face. I wanted to punch the smirk as hard as I could over and over again till it became a part of his friggin' face.

"What the fuck are you doing here, Joey?" I kept my voice low but it carried enough venom to poison a thick-ass elephant.

Joey Murdock was my Beta and one of the only men that had been able to earn my respect. He was as lethal as he was cunning. His tongue was as sharp as his blade.

Joey's smirk deepened as he spread his arms out. "Isn't that obvious? I'm here to rescue my Alpha."

I gestured for him to keep his voice down. He was about to say something stupid when we both heard a noise coming from a thicket just a little to the left of where he stood.

My stance changed in anticipation of an attack. Someone was hiding there. Joey moved ahead of me about to strike when a possum ran out. We both relaxed but something felt off.

"It's too late for that. I've already been rescued." I whispered across to him. "Please get the hell out of here."

He stared at me with a confused expression on his face. I could understand his confusion but this wasn't the time or the place to give him the whole gist of all that happened since my attack.

"Just go you dimwit!" I growled at him in a hushed voice.

"So you're not a prisoner?" He said placing a hand on his hips.

"Well, he is now." A voice said from behind.

I knew who the speaker was without turning. Eleanor.

"I told you he wasn't who he claimed he was!" Max bawled, standing by her side.

I wasn't brave enough to turn around. I knew the expression on her face would be enough to break my heart into a million and one pieces.

"Face me you coward!" She yelled behind my back.

Joey watched what was happening with amusement. He was still confused but he was enjoying seeing Eleanor yell at me. I sighed as I turned around to see her.

She was dressed in her warrior's armour. Tears gathered in her eyes visible under the faint glow of the moon.

"You bastard! I gave you everything just less than an hour ago." Her tears dropped. "And it was all a lie to you."

It wasn't all a lie. I lost the capacity to speak. All I could do was stare and struggle with the thoughts in my head.

"I want you to face me as I reject you!" She said walking closer to me.

She walked until we were close enough to hug.

The hatred that burnt in her eyes made me convinced she meant what she had just said. I couldn't let her do that. No! I'm not losing her...

Without thinking, I stretched out my arms and touched the sensitive spot behind her neck with my index and middle finger. I applied just the right amount of pressure to shut down the flow then and she fell. I caught her before she hit the ground.

Max drew out his sword to charge at me but he left himself open for Joey to knock him across the face. He fell to the ground and stayed there.

I raised a brow at Joey who shrugged in response. "That was just a light tap. He'd shake it off in the morning."

I sighed. Things had gone from fucked up to incredibly fucked up in a matter of seconds.

I swung Eleanor onto my shoulder gently.

There was only one thing left to do...

"Let's go home, Joey."
