Chapter 4: Internal Scream

"Mauve!" Nicholas' eyes and mouth are wide open as he witnesses Mauve five feet off the ground floating in midair. It's almost like gravity no longer applies to Mauve as her hair floats around, so were her tears bursting out of her eyes due to sheer shock. Her scream continues as she struggles to keep her balance steady.

"Nicholas help me!" Mauve cries for help.

"Grab my hand!" Nicholas extends his hand trying to reach her. Mauve desperately grabs his hand but the more Nicholas tugs her down, the higher she gets. It looks like some force is pulling her back as she tries to go down.

"Stop! Let her go, Eliot!" Sephie demands as she enters the room. Her eyes start to emit a subtle bluish glow as she scans Mauve accessing what is happening to her.

Mauve continues to struggle wrestling the air as her body shifts and rotates. Her whole world is spinning around making her feel dizzy and disoriented. On top of that, being clueless of what is happening does not really help now all she could think of what if she accidentally floats out the barn windows until she reaches outer space and dies.

" Miss, listen to me very carefully! Stop resisting it. You should be one with your ability and not fight against it. Focus on your core." Sephie suggests after discovering what is wrong.

"Core? What do you mean?" Mauve asks.

"First close your eyes, clear your mind and don't mind whatever is happening around you. Find your balance then once you see a light, focus and try to control it. That's your core. "

Mauve is running out of options and she is willing to try anything at this point. She positions herself laying as she closes her eyes. She shutdowns her echoing thoughts and emotions as she lets herself wander into the darkness of her mind. The empty void made her cold, freezing almost. Mauve disregards echoes of her fear of uncertainty and continues to focus.

I am alone, must find the core Mauve thought as she focuses on her own words moving forward across what seems to be like an endless deep tunnel.

And there it is, the core!  A soft light a few feet away emerges. Mauve ran as fast as she could until her arms could reach the sparkling glowing ember floating above her. The closer she gets, the more sporadic it is. The way it moves resembles a burning sparkler, it is beautiful but gives off this spastic state she would occasionally feel towards her life hence her defence mechanism of controlling everything she does by obsessive planning, organizing and putting everything she does in her journal. This method has kept her daily activities intact but never truly herself. She always knew that there is something missing but disregards it everytime. All she wanted was to live a content simple life. Now she is starting to second guess herself.

This is me, my core. We are one. Mauve finally acknowledges as she reaches for the sparkling light. The stinging sensation is too hot but she had to endure and subdue it once and for all.

Steady! Mauve commands as she takes a deep breath, enclosing the light in her palm the light goes through her causing her to light up from the inside as they become one.

Nicholas and Sephie watch as an explosion of light irradiate through Mauve’s chest. It is glorious and something they had never seen before happen in their lifetime. Both kneel on one knee as they give their utter respect while Mauve gently floats downwards and reaches the ground. A soft glow glimmers on Mauve’s eyes as she awakens. She notices both Nicholas and Sephie kneeling and hastily  makes them stop.

Nicholas assists her to stand up and regain her footing.

“Thanks.” Mauve says as she catches a glimpse of Nicholas who is holding her in place.

He gives her a bright smile and responds. “Do you believe us now?”

Mauve hasn’t thought about this yet. She had no time to since the first thing she experienced upon waking up was the feeling of falling yet stuck on the free fall motion. She thought; Just because I can float and make things move with my mind doesn’t mean that I’ll be a ruler of an entire parallel dimension right? Right?

“I’m not sure, I haven’t thought much about it.” She replies.

“It’s okay, we have plenty of time.” Nicholas says as he leads Mauve out of her room and into the chairs.

“Are you going to tie me up again?” Mauve asks, looking at Nicholas who was supporting her weight as she sits down.

Nicholas gives Sephie a look and both exchange a nod before Sephie replies. “No miss, It’s no longer necessary.”

Mauve is puzzled. Why did they suddenly change their minds? If it were me, I would lock myself up somewhere safe knowing I could defy gravity. I’m not just a danger to myself but to others as well.

“Why?" Mauve asks while watching Sephie and Nicholas tidy up their place.

"You are almost ready miss, you are stable."

"Ready for what?" Mauve replies.

" Your second ability is about to appear. You'll see." Sephie gives her a reassuring smile as she hands Mauve a cup of tea.

Sephie glides around fixing what was out of their place while Nicholas fixes their fireplace. She quickly assembles ham and cheese sandwiches for breakfast. The three of them sit together at the table while they look out the large barn window overlooking a winter wonderland outside. Mauve feels comfortable for the very first time. She no longer thinks of being their hostage. Maybe I was wrong all along, I'm too deep in paranoia that I had been treating them rudely. All they did was keep me safe while I'm being unreasonable. I should treat them nicer. Mauve thought as she sips Sephie's refreshing green tea.

"These sandwiches are so good, Sephie." Mauve says as she smiles at Sephie letting her know she is sincere.

"I'm really glad you like it, miss." Sephie smiles back. It's the first time that she saw Mauve look happy and say something nice and sincere since they met. Mauve notices the way Sephie calls her not by her name but by addressing her as miss. It sounds dainty but she prefers to be called by her first name instead.

"Sephie why do you keep calling me miss?" Mauve asks looking at Sephie's direction.

"I thought it was appropriate, would you prefer to be addressed in another way?" Sephie replies worrying that she might have offended Mauve.

" Just call me by my n-..." name. Mauve gives Sephie a smile but she suddenly sees panic flashed on Sephie's face which made her confused.

"Oh my god- what just happened." Sephie blurts out to Nicholas out of shock. Sephie wasn't able to  hear Mauve finish her sentence. Both Sephie and Nicholas stood up from their chairs looking around waving at where Mauve was sitting just now.

Mave was horrified watching Nicholas' arm go through her torso.

Hello! Can't you see me? Hello, I'm here! I'm here!
