Samuel

Samuel

I had a feeling this was going to happen.  I remember Tyrone telling me that a few weeks after they had visited Jason last time, Luna Renee told him that her boys had told her that Emerald smelled of chocolate, coffee, and almonds.  The two of us thought that was strange since Emerald had no scent.  Neither of us paid much attention to it until she turned 14, and so far, she had not found her mate.  She did tell me when she was 16 that, for some reason, she felt drawn to this town, but she couldn’t explain why.  I have a feeling that it was because of the twins.

“Ok boys, what is going on?”  Jason asks.

“We found our mate,”  Nate says.

“Our mate?”  Renee asks.

“Yes, our mate.  We are twins and we have shared everything.  We also share a mate.”  Devon explains.

This is not unheard of in shifter communities.  I know several sets of twins that share a mate.  Identical twins are one that is split into two, so it makes sense.

“Wait it’s Emerald isn’t it?”  Renee asks.

“Yes.”  The two of them answered in unison.

I hear Renee tell Jason I told you so.  I let out a chuckle.  I noticed Emerald kept her distance from the twins the entire meeting and as she left.   I know she can feel the pull of the bond.  I also know she has convinced herself that she doesn’t have a mate or she doesn’t deserve one.  I could tell as she walked out that she wanted to go to them, but she fought it and walked out.

“Can she not feel the bond?”  Devon asks.

“She felt it but….”  I start to say.

“That’s the problem with abuse.  Not all abuse is visible.”  Gamma Steven says.

“Excuse me?  Who the fuck abused her?”  Devon growls out.

I let out a sigh.  Of course, it would be Steven that realized what was going on.  His mate’s father had verbally and emotionally abused her.  It took him a good two years to make her realize that all the shit her father had told her was wrong.  I remember Jason telling Cyreena and Tyrone, who told us about it.  I still can’t fathom why parents would do this to their children, but unfortunately, it happens.

“No one physically abused her,”  Marcel says.

"When I found my mate it pissed off her sister.  Her sister was certain that she and I were going to be mates.  It didn’t work that way.  She started trash-talking my mate to the family and everyone who would listen.  None believed her because they all knew she was jealous.  When Tyrone found Cyreena to be his mate it pissed off Alina, who is my great-niece on my mate’s side of the family.  Again she was convinced that she and Tyrone would-be mates.  Again the both of them started spewing hateful things about Cyrenna that no one believed.  However, Alina’s family did believe it since they are the witch side of the family.  It only got worse when Cyreena found out she was pregnant with Emerald.”  I explain.

“We knew from the start that Emerald was special and was going to be powerful.  We were right. My side of the family and Samuel’s side of the family accepted Emerald but Tyrone’s mother’s side did not.  They didn’t like Cyreena as they thought Tyrone was tainting the pureblood warlock and werecat lines.  They hated Emerald the moment she was born.”  Marcel adds.

“They constantly told her that she would never have a mate or soul bond and that no one would ever want her because she is an abomination.  They told her everything you can think of, from her being ugly, fat, worthless, a waste of space, and so on.  They told her that the only reason that anyone would want her was for her powers or to breed with her to have powerful children.  They told her no one would ever love her.  They told her that if she did have a mate that he would instantly reject her.”  Rich says.

This surprised me when Rich was telling us what he knew.  I had no idea that they had been that cruel with words to her.  My wife had disowned her family once we were married because of the hateful things that were said.  If only she were here now to hear how they are treating her granddaughter.  She would fuck them up.  I can see anger swirling in the twin’s eyes.  I can tell they are pissed, as am I.  No wonder Emerald travels around.  She thinks no one wants her.

“Sometimes the worst form of abuse can't be seen and it makes the most terrible wounds and leaves the deepest scars,” Steven tells the twins.

The room is silent except for Renee’s sobs.  Jason wraps his arms around her to comfort her.  None of us knew what to say.  I look at the twins and can tell they are having a conversation between themselves.

“Please tell me you two aren’t going to reject her?”  Renee whispers.

“Mother, how could you think that of us,”  Devon tells his mother horrified.

“Absolutely not, she was chosen for us for a reason.  She is our as we are hers.”  Nate states.

I can see the relief on both Jason and Renee’s faces when he says this.  This makes me feel much better about leaving her here in their care.  Jason explains to us that Cyreena had cast a spell the last time she was here that protected the pack and within that spell, she had woven Emerald.  Basically as long as Emerald stayed here on the pack’s land she is forever protected from anyone that would try and hurt her.  I can see the relief on Marcel’s face as well.

“We have one other thing to ask of you,”  I tell Jason.

“What is that?” He asks.

“We would like Rich and Helm to stay here, upon your approval, as representatives from our kingdoms.  We would like to start up an alliance with your pack and Jackson’s pack.  We come to your aid in a crisis and you come to ours.  Also, these two are the closest to Emerald and they will make her feel more comfortable here.”  I explain.

“Absolutely, I will talk to Jackson, but I know he will agree no questions asked.  Rich and Helm you two are always welcome here.”  Jason states.

With that over, I know the next step is to explain to Emerald why staying here is the best thing for her.  I know that she is probably already thinking of leaving because of the twins.  I will have to talk to her and tell her that everything will be ok.  These boys have an uphill battle.  However, something is telling me that they can prove to her that everything she was told was bullshit.  We all start walking out of the room and I hope to god I am right about these boys.  All I want is for Emerald to be happy and if these two boys can make her happy that is all that matters to me.
