Chapter Thirty Two

Lisa PoV

“What do you think?” I asked Nessa, but she seemed as confused as I was.

We couldn’t figure out the sudden changes in their behaviors. One second, it felt like we were getting along and I was going to get the answers I was seeking, and the next I felt like a prisoner.

It all started when Dylan had come to serve my meal two days ago. Prior to that we’d gotten comfortable with each. We were almost friends. Despite his huge frame and badly reset nose that ruined his otherwise handsome face, he was lively and friendly, and we would often talk about different, mindless things.

But he was different that day. He was stiff and unsmiling. Even when I tried to tease him, he was unmoving. As though that wasn’t enough, he stood like a sentry guard at the opening of my compartment, blocking any ray of light that managed to filter through the small opening.

“You know,” I planted a wide smile on my face, “you’ve really gotten better with your cooking,” I said while I munched on his roaste
