Chapter Forty

Melina PoV

There’s nothing as frustrating as talking to people who would not listen to whatever you had to say. That was the exact situation I was caught up with the elders of the Tal’al Coven.

“They just would not listen,” I fumed as I angrily clipped the flower I was tending to.

“Sister Melina,” Ramona chuckled, “the poor flower is not the cause of your problems, don’t vent your frustration on it.”

“I’m sorry, sister,” I hastily to apologized to my superior, “I was…distracted.”

“I noticed,” her smile slowly faded away, “troubling times often have a way of doing that to us. Why not come by my office after dinner so we can talk about it.”

“Thank you, sister,” I bowed gently, “but I wouldn’t want to…”

“Cut the crap, Melina,” she laughed, “it’s just a chat between two friends. It’s not like we’re planning a heist.”

“Perhaps a heist would be enough to get your self-righteous ass to act,” I laughed with her. I was at ease with Ramona. She was not as uptight at the rest as the superiors.
