Chapter Forty Eight

Melina PoV

In all my preparations, nothing prepared me the bone-freezing cold in the wolves’ territory. The cold was almost as fierce and dangerous as the tip of a werewolves’ claws. And it got worse in the night.

“You’re shivering like a leave in a stormy river,” Guo scoffed as she led the way back to her house.

“You…don’t seem…to be feeling the cold,” I stuttered, rubbing my palms together.

Even though Mrs. Guo was almost four times my age, she walked as though she still has another hundred years of life to churn out.

With just a thin gown and a shawl covering the upper half of her body, Guo walked as though there wasn’t a freezing wind blowing furiously.

“I’m a werewolf, silly,” Guo snorted, as though she was offended by my words.

That was the beauty of being a werewolf. We studied all about them in the academy. Sometimes, I even wished witches aged as well as the wolves or have durable skin, or our men were as hot as theirs.
