Chapter Fifty Six

Klaus PoV

Every thought that filled my mind as I raced home was the fact that Axel had tried to murder me.

Hearing Axel was a murderer feels very much different when I am the receiving end of his murderous intent. I felt betrayed, angry and hateful. I’d never hated anyone as much as I hated Axel at that particular moment.

“How could he?” I muttered as I picked my way home, “how could he?”

It was difficult to fathom the fact that Axel would stoop that low to murder me with wolfsbane poison. I would have died screaming in agony and pain. Death by wolfsbane poison was the most gruesome fate that could ever befall a werewolf.

“And that was how he intended to kill me,” I muttered angrily as I pushed the door to my house open.

Aurora had been pacing the front door while she fiddled with the phone. She was still dressed in her nightgown, but draped a woolen wrapper around her lithe frame.

“Klaus,” she murmured immediately I entered the house, thank goodness.
