Chapter Sixty Four

Lisa PoV

“You’ll suffer,” Maximo’s voice resounded in my head.

His voice, as always, reeked of hatred and anger. The hatred in his voice clearly reflected in his eyes as he came into view. His veins popped off his body and pulsated as anger flared through him. His eyes slid between that of a wolf’s and that of a man. It was terrifying and unnerving.

I didn’t understand. I thought I got away. I thought I ran away from his deathly grip and fled into the forest. How did I end up back there? It has to be an illusion. I would rather die than go back there. I wouldn’t go back. How?

“You think you can get away from me, huh?” he sneered as though he’d read my mind, “you think you can escape your fate?”

Fear and dread simmered within me, filtering through every part of me until I was shaking with fear. Goosebumps grew and sprouted, and the hair on my body all seemed to become erect all at once. It was unimaginable that I would end up there. I couldn’t believe it. I’d almost lost my life runnin
