Chapter Twenty

The next morning I got up early. Tonight was the night of my Ascension ceremony, and I hadn't much time to get ready for the event. I told Kaine that I would be spending time with my mother in the morning and would spend time in the afternoon getting ready for the event. I dressed myself quickly. I threw my hair up in a quick bun and slipped on a comfortable blue overall dress with a long sleeved white shirt underneath. I slipped on a pair of tights and slipped my feet into my favorite flat shoes. I intended to do some walking and didn't want to be uncomfortable. I had nearly made it out of the packhouse, when I felt strong arms wrap around me from behind. I turned and looked up at Kaine. "Have a good day. I'll have my driver take you, unless you want to take a car." I grinned up at him and held my hand out. I wouldn't pass the chance to drive one of Kaine's prized sports cars.
