DEAD END

Sylvia crawled into the tunnel while David followed her. Having him crawl behind her gave Sylvia the courage to crawl faster.

About five minutes later, they came out through the other end of the tunnel. Sylvia fell to the ground and was soon gasping for breath. When she rolled her eyes around her surrounding, it dawned on her that they were in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by shrubs and grasses.

David felt his pocket but his phone wasn't there. “I must have lost it while crawling,” he told Sylvia. “Stay right here. I'll get in there and find my phone.”

Sylvia abruptly stood up and grabbed his shirt with all her might. “You can't leave me alone in this dark forest, David.

He sighed. “Look, Sylvia. We are not in any dark forest. This wood is behind the mansion. I guess we made it to the back of the house. I need to get my phone and place a call to my father so that they can come and get us out of here.”

Sylvia gave repeated nods and freed David.

David squatted and was about to head
