Captured by the cannibals

Amelia's Pov

My heart pounded in my chest as I fled my home, fear gripping me with each step.

I could hear the soldiers' footsteps echoing behind me, hot on my trail. I ran with all my might, not knowing where to go, my breaths coming in short gasps.

The grasses and trees that I passed by seemed to reach out and scratch at me, causing small cuts and bruises along my arms and legs. I dared not look back, knowing that any hesitation could be my downfall.

I pushed myself to keep running, hoping that somewhere, somehow, I would find a haven.

I felt like I was swallowed whole by the forest. The trees towered above me, blocking out the moon and casting everything in a greenish hue.

I had been running for what felt like hours, but it seemed like there was nowhere to go.

I was hungry and my stomach grumbled loudly, reminding me of how long it had been since I had eaten. My mind kept drifting to thoughts of food, but I pushed them aside. There were more pressing matters at hand.
