Chapter Forty-Three

Standing on the steps of Nox’s house - my house, I and two servants waited patiently for Roman to drive in and park. From where I stood, I could tell that Roman was not happy but before I could think about it further the door to the back seat opened, and out came my sister who looked just as miffed as he was.

Uh-oh.

The moment Hailey saw me though, her frown transformed into a big happy smile and she ran to me with arms open wide. I ran and met her halfway and as we hugged, we jumped around together like we were kids again.

When we finally pulled apart, Hailey took a step back to take a good look at me.

“Wow! Zora, you’ve changed!” She commented, her face filled with awe. “You look amazing!”

“Thank you,” I said, feeling uncomfortable with compliments as always. “You look good too,” I added, although that wasn’t true. Hailey had lost a significant amount of weight, there were bags under her eyes and her shiny curly hair now looked rough and lackluster.
