CHAPTER FORTY-NINE

Mrs Wabua did her magic on Mercy with great aplomb; with herbs mixed with the ghee, she had stretched Mercy's bones and tried to assuage the pain. Although there wasn't an immediate visible improvement, she was convinced that within a short time,  the latter would be able to get on her feet. Esther's presence had been a great help because her inquisitiveness about the skill had gained her enough knowledge and made Mrs Wabua determine that she would be able to treat Mercy where the need arises in case she didn't come by every day to do it herself.

"Auntie, we will have to take her to her room,"  Esther suggested after degreasing Mercy's injured part.

"Yes, I guess it would be comfortable for her liking, isn't it Mercy? or do you want to spend a night on the floor in this lousy corridor?"
