Chapter 8

Edmin woke up the next morning with a heavy heart. He didn't want to get up but she had no other choice. She has a choice. She can stay in his room and worry about people outside or she can pretend to be fine. Either way, she is the loser.

She chose the latter.

But before going out completely, Edmin's eyes caught the bouquet of roses and papers in the corner of the room. She drew in a violent breath. Taking them out of the room, she headed outside and placed them in a large trash can.

Upon reentering the house, she went to the kitchen to make coffee. He caught Manang Marcha and Zachriel having breakfast. The old man immediately stood up. Their eyes met the man's. It was the first to look away.

"Good morning, Edmin. How are you feeling?" Manang Marcha asked.

"It's good," she answered.

"And sit down and continue eating. I'll take care of myself."

"Hi, join us for the meal." Edmin nodded before starting to move.
