Chapter 23: I Am Different

The House of Vagamor; South of the Realm

Orvyn's POV

"Are you mad? How can you believe all she told you without giving it a second thought?" Conrad blurted.

He and I took a leisurely stroll outside the castle walls to walk the common market. It was dull chilly noon, and winter was here. Heaps of snow were shoveled to the corners of the market Street. Those who could afford a coat of fur had it draped over them to keep warm and cozy, while the others, mostly peasants, doubled their clothes with an extra piece of clothing. As we walked down the noisy market, glancing from one stall to the other, we couldn't avoid the incessant bows and constant "My Lord" from the pack members.

"I know how it sounds. Yes, I should have investigated to know if it's true." I acknowledge the bow of a peasant Omega farmer, and continued with Conrad. "But she sounded so believable. I could feel it in her tiny voice that she was speaking the truth."
