Chapter 49: A Hard Decision

Orvyn's POV

"My son! Oh, my son." A woman wept over one of the dead men, comforted by an older man who I assumed was her mate. He tried his best to comfort both her and himself, fighting back his own tears. "He was our only son. Who did this to our son? I can't even look at him." She buried her face into her mates chest, sobbing profusely.

A lady rushed into the circle, breaking through the throng. She had a new born baby swaddled in her arms. Her gown was blood-stained, and her face pale from childbirth.

"Nooo!" She screamed, falling to her knees beside another dead wolf. "No! No! No! You can't die now, Bertrand. Please, don't do this to me. Please, get up. The Moon has blessed us with a son after these years." She staggered backward, losing track of her strength.

Olive detached herself from me and went to stand by her. She wept along with the helpless lady, keeping her baby firm. In the midst of the conundrum, the baby slept silently, oblivious of his dead father, nor the tear drops
