"What do we do now?" Lottie inquires. I continue opening my lunchbox, unconcerned about Kessler coming over.

"Act natural," I said calmly.

"Don't worry, I'm here to protect you," Jonny said, which I found very kind of him.

I smiled at him in gratitude.

"That's what I'm here for, to take care of her," Kessler's voice sounded angry, tense. He put his hand on my shoulder and sat next to me. There was silence in the air.

"I thought we were going to have lunch together," he murmured.

"I'm already having lunch with Jonny and Lottie. If you'll excuse me, I want to have a peaceful meal," I said, giving him a cold look. Kessler frowned, seeming to not believe that I was speaking to him like that.

"What's wrong, Eva?" he wanted to know. "Why are you acting like this? What did this jerk tell you?" he pointed at Jonny.

"Nothing, Kessler. He didn't tell me anything. In fact, don't you have something to tell me?" I looked at him seriously. Kessler was trying to guess what was bothering me. It showe
