Chapter 26: Let her go, it'll be alright

The evening sun was setting in the dark orange sky and the autumn breeze kicked in. I had felt like a prisoner in my own home as I was so scared of stepping out and Darla reporting all she knew to her mother.

Three days had gone by as I placed myself on house arrest. She didn't leave the house either but didn't say a word to me.

Normally it wouldn't bother me as we had even gone two weeks without saying a word to each other but this time around, she knew something that could cause a big calamity to befall us and she was probably going to tell.

I walked into the kitchen to prepare a cup of well needed coffee and there she was, rummaging through the refrigerator. "Darla--"

"I'm busy." She responded sharply without looking away from the refrigerator.

"Doing what? Rearranging the refrigerator?" I raised a questioning brow.

She finally stopped and spared me a minute. "What do you want from me?"
